Temporary skeletal anchorage devices : A guide to design and evidence-based solution
Anchorage control is one of the most challenging tasks in orthodontic treatment. Many different types of appliance are used to control anchorage, but an excellent outcome may be difficult to achieve owing to either poor mechanics or inadequate patient compliance. Recently, temporary skeletal anchorage devices (TSADs) have become popular in orthodontics. Some orthodontic movements that are now possible using TSADs were previously considered almost impossible with traditional orthodontic appliances.
Practical ways to improve patient adherence
Offers novel, potent ways to get patients to use their medications and improve treatment outcomes – tools healthcare providers can use day in and day out. A medical education is not complete without a thorough understanding of the hurdles that contribute to poor adherence and what health professionals can and should do about it.
Nanotechnology for Oral Drug Delivery : From Concept to Applications
Discusses the current challenges of oral drug delivery, broadly revising the different physicochemical barriers faced by nanotechnolgy-based oral drug delivery systems, and highlighting the challenges of improving intestinal permeability and drug absorption. Oral delivery is the most widely used form of drug administration due to ease of ingestion, cost effectiveness, and versatility, by allowing for the accommodation of different types of drugs, having the highest patient compliance.
Bigel : An innovative drug delivery system
Bigel is a promising drug delivery system that modifies the pharmacotherapeutic characteristics of knowing active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).It is a mix between hydrogel and organogel (oleogel). The objective of the present work demonstrates the ability of bigel to overcome the disadvan- tages of both types of gels, including the limited ability to cross lipophilic barriers of the skin for hydrogels and the low patient compliance for organogels due to their stickiness and oily residues. Materials andmethods : Carbomer934, PolyvinylpyrrolidoneK 90 and Castor oil where mixed in a high shear mixer using diferent weight percentages of each. Hence,13 for mulations (BG1 to BG13) prepared by simplex mixture design modelis used to study the inuenceofafore- mentioned ingredients on appearance, dynamicviscosity, pH, stability, microscopicstructure of bigel and to understand the chemical interactions between bigel components, Fouriertrans- form infrared (FTIR) analysis will bereported.
