Network Analysis : Methodological Foundations
‘Network’ is a heavily overloaded term, so that ‘network analysis’ means different things to different people. Specific forms of network analysis are used in the study of diverse structures such as the Internet, interlocking directorates, transportation systems, epidemic spreading, metabolic pathways, the Web graph, electrical circuits, project plans, and so on. There is, however, a broad methodological foundation which is quickly becoming a prerequisite for researchers and practitioners working with network models. From a computer science perspective, network analysis is applied graph theory. Unlike standard graph theory books, the content of this book is organized according to methods for specific levels of analysis (element, group, network) rather than abstract concepts like paths, matchings, or spanning subgraphs. Its topics therefore range from vertex centrality to graph clustering and the evolution of scale-free networks. In 15 coherent chapters, this monograph-like tutorial book introduces and surveys the concepts and methods that drive network analysis, and is thus the first book to do so from a methodological perspective independent of specific application areas.
Introductory Lectures on Fluctuations of Lévy Processes with Applications
Lévy processes are the natural continuous-time analogue of random walks and form a rich class of stochastic processes around which a robust mathematical theory exists. Their mathematical significance is justified by their application in many areas of classical and modern stochastic models including storage models, renewal processes, insurance risk models, optimal stopping problems, mathematical finance and continuous-state branching processes.The book aims to be mathematically rigorous while still providing an intuitive feel for underlying principles. The results and applications often focus on the case of Lévy processes with jumps in only one direction.

Integrated Market and Credit Portfolio Models : Risk Measurement and Computational Aspects
Due to their business activities, banks are exposed to many different risk types. Aggregating various risk exposures to a comprehensive risk position is an important but up-to-date not satisfactorily solved task. This shortfall goes back to conceptual problems of constructing an appropriate risk model and to the computational burden of determining a loss distribution that comprises all relevant risk types. Peter Grundke deals with both problems. On the one hand, he extends a standard credit portfolio model by correlated interest rate and credit spread risk. The analysis shows that the economic capital needed as a buffer to absorb unexpected losses in a portfolio can be severely underestimated when relevant market risk factors are neglected. On the other hand, computational aspects are addressed.
