Zoonosi e sanità pubblica : Un approccio interdisciplinare per un problema emergente = Zoonosis and Public Health: An Interdisciplinary Approach to an Emerging Problem
Zoonoses, that is, naturally transmissible infections between other animal species and man, are now an emerging problem, even in developed countries. Climate change, human migration flows, growth in international trade and wars favor both the re-emergence of diseases considered rare and the introduction of potentially pathogenic organisms into new geographical areas. For most of these pathologies, however, the majority of health professionals - starting with general practitioners - often do not have appropriate and up-to-date knowledge and tools. The text aims to provide medical personnel - and primarily general practitioners - with both a scientific and regulatory framework and a series of specific and practical information on individual pathologies. This volume is intended to be an operational tool also aimed at encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration and the exchange of information, in particular between doctors and veterinarians.
White Sea : Its Marine Environment and Ecosystem Dynamics Influenced by Global Change
The authors address a wide range of issues, including geographical position and the paleogeological background of the White Sea Basin. They provide the most recent data on the White Sea bathymetry, examine the White Sea ecosystem profile, and provide extensive historical marine and riverine data records. An integrated assessment of the state of the ecology, vulnerability and sustainability of the White Sea is presented. They look specifically at the applications of satellite Earth observation (remote sensing) oceanographic investigations into changes in regional physical oceanography and ecology, provide extensive coverage of the problems of multi-faceted data assimilation in ocean modelling and conclude with a look at the present state of the art and future developments in this area of nature conservation.

Time and Space in Economics
In August 2005, a small but important conference took place at Chuo University in Tokyo, Japan. This international conference, the Chuo Meeting on Economics of Time and Space 2005 (Chuo METS 05), aimed to enrich the respective disciplines of the economics of time (dynamic economics) and the economics of space (spatial economics) and to expand their applicability in the real world. The chapters contained herein are based on the papers presented at that conference. Part I of the book deals with Keynesian macrodynamics, which allows for the existence of involuntary unemployment; Part II focuses on nonlinear dynamics, with an emphasis on the complexity that is generated as a result of the nonlinearity of the system; Part III consists of an empirical analysis of spatial economics through geographical relationships with economic activity; and Part IV analyzes the effects of spatial competition between economic organizations or agents on economic performance in a region.
The testing network : An integral approach to test activities in large software projects
"The Testing Network" presents an integrated approach to testing based on cutting-edge methodologies, processes and tools in today's IT context. It means complex network-centric applications to be tested in heterogeneous IT infrastructures and in multiple test environments (also geographically distributed). The added-value of this book is the in-depth explanation of all processes and relevant methodologies and tools to address this complexity. It is the reason why main aspects of testing are explained using TD/QC - the world-leader ITP (Integrated Test Platform) - TD/QC is used by more than 75% of 500 Fortune companies.
The Surgery of Childhood Tumors
Beginning with the scientific basis of tumors, 'The Surgery of Childhood Tumors' provides up-to-date information on epidemiology, cytogenetics and molecular biology, before looking at current treatments, integrating surgery, neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Additionally, a chapter on counseling reflects the book's holistic approach to treating children with cancer. The chapters are written by world-renowned international authorities on pediatric cancer from major children's cancer groups in the UK, Europe and the US. Contributors discuss geographical variations in treatment for each type of tumor. Excellent full-colour pictures and detailed line drawings illustrate all aspects of managing childhood tumors, including technical details of operation which are often neglected in other texts. This comprehensive book provides a contemporary approach for pediatric, general and urological surgeons dealing with childhood tumors. New chapters in this second edition provide the latest developments and strategies in pediatric surgical oncology.

The European Information Society : Taking Geoinformation Science One Step Further
The Association of Geographic Information Laboratories for Europe (AGILE) was established in early 1998 to promote academic teaching and research on GIS at the European level. AGILE seeks to ensure that the views of the geographic information teaching and research community are fully represented in the discussions that take place on future European - search agendas and it also provides a permanent scientific forum where geographic information researchers can meet and exchange ideas and - periences at the European level. In 2007 AGILE provided - for the first time since its existence - a book constituting a collection of scientific papers that were submitted as fu- papers to the annual AGILE conference and went through a competitive and thorough review process. Published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography this first edition was well received within AGILE and within the European Geoinformation Science com- nity as a whole. Thus, the decision was easily made to establish a Springer th Volume for the 11 AGILE conference held 2008 in Girona, Spain, and led to what you now hold in your hands.

Spatial Data on the Web : Modeling and Management
Spatial data is essential in a wide range of application domains today. While geographical applications remain the key target area, spatial properties are required in other contexts such as computer-aided design, robotics and image processing. Associated with these is the constantly growing number of distributed processing architectures, based on, for example, grid systems, sensor data networks, and personalized smart devices.
Spatial Data Modelling for 3D GIS
Covers fundamental aspects of spatial data modelling specifically on the aspect of three-dimensional (3D) modelling and structuring. The development of spatial data modelling for 3D objects is the focus of this book.
