Genetic Programming ; 11th European Conference, EuroGP 2008, Naples, Italy, March 26-28, 2008. Proceedings
The 11th European Conference on Genetic Programming, EuroGP 2008, took place in Naples, Italy from 26 to 28 March in the University of Naples Congress Centre with spectacular views over the Gulf of Naples. This volume contains the papers for the 21 oral presentations and 10 posters that were presented during this time. A diverse array of topics were covered refecting the current state of research in the ?eld of Genetic Programming, including the latest work on representations, theory, operators and analysis, evolvable hardware, agents and numerous applications. A rigorous, double-blind peer review process was employed, with each s- mission reviewed by at least three members of the international Program C- mittee.

Genders in the Life Course : Demographic Issues
Treats the topic of gender and demographic behaviour during the life course in a comprehensive fashion. It covers a lot of ground, from the age at first intercourse over union formation and dissolution, fertility, migration, ageing, to excess male mortality, comparing genders behaviour and its determinants. It reports new findings of empirical research, mostly based on data from a number of European countries, making a good use of the Family and Fertility surveys and other international data base.

The objective of this book is to provide an overview of gender, health and ageing. Important theoretical concepts, such as life course and "Lebenslagen" in old age, or differences in men's health, are introduced. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system devel- ment process, including speci?cation, design, implementation, analysis and impro- ment. The languages, methodologies and tools which support these activities are all well within its scope. Di?erent blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on the one hand and soundly based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.

This year it comprised ?ve conferences (CC, ESOP, FASE, FOSSACS, TACAS), 17 satellite workshops (AVIS, BYTECODE, CEES, CLASE, CMSB, COCV, FAC, FESCA, FINCO, GCW-DSE, GLPL, LDTA, QAPL, SC, SLAP, TGC, UITP), seven invited lectures (not including those that were speci?c to the satellite events), and several tutorials. We received over 550 submissions to the ?ve conferences this year, giving acceptance rates below 30% for each one. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci?cation, design, implementation, analysis and improvement. The languages, methodologies and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope.
