Insurance intermediation : An economic analysis of the information services market
Insurance intermediaries can help consumers to economize on information and transaction costs in insurance markets. However, competing intermediaries provide heterogeneous information services, which are difficult to assess by incompletely informed consumers. Conduct and performance in the market for insurance information services are analyzed by applying search theoretical and industrial organization approaches. Based on a sample of 927 insurance intermediaries, the factors that affect the quality of the information services provided by them are studied empirically. The results obtained support the main hypotheses derived from industrial organization theories as to the poor working of quality competition under incomplete and asymmetric information on the side of consumers.

Innovation Policy in a Knowledge-Based Economy : Theory and Practice
Why Analyze Innovation Policies From a Knowledge- Based Perspective? It is broadly accepted that we have moved (or are moving) to a knowled- based economy, characterized at least by two main features: that knowl edge is a major factor in economic growth, and innovation processes are systemic by nature. It is not surprising that this change in the economic paradigm requires new analytical foundations for innovation policies. One of the purposes of this book is to make suggestions as to what they should include. Underpinning all the chapters in this book is a conviction of the impor tance of dynamic and systemic approaches to innovation policy. Nelson and Arrow saw innovation and the creation of new knowl edge as the emergence and the diffusion of new information, characterized essentially as a public good. The more recent theoretical literature regarded the rationale for innovation policies as being to provide solutions to "mar ket failures". Today, however, knowledge is seen as multidimensional (tacit vs. codified) and open to interpretation. Acknowledging that the creation, coordination and diffusion of knowledge are dynamic and cumu lative processes, and that innovation processes result from the coordination of distributed knowledge, renders the "market failure" view of innovation policies obsolete. ISC 2005 brought together individuals from academia and - dustry involvedin manyresearchdisciplines of information security to foster the exchange of ideas. During recent years this conference has tried to place special emphasis on the practical aspects of information security, and since it passed from being an international workshop to being an international conference in 2001, it has become one of the most relevant forums at which researchers meet and discuss emerging security challenges and solutions. Advised by the ISC Steering Committee, and in order to provide students with more opportunities for publication, ISC 2005 accepted extra student papers - sides the regular papers. The initiative was very well accepted by the young sector of the scienti?c community, and we hope that the success of this idea will remainfornextISCevents. Another important factor for the success of ISC2005 was that selected papers in the proceedings will be invited for submission to a special issue of the International Journal of Information Security. The result was an incredible response to the call for papers; we received 271 submissions, the highest since ISC events started. It goes without saying that the paper selection process was more competitive and di?cult than ever before — only 33 regular papers were accepted, plus 5 student papers for a special student session.
Influence of Children on Family Purchase Decision
Nowadays, when it comes to the purchase decision there is several factors that affect it. It may be the promotion of the product or service, the way it’s presented, the price and too many other factors. But also, we can take the purchase decision from another point view where there may be people that influence it. These people may be friends, family, partners, children, or other. We conducted this research to investigate whether there is a children’s influence on the family purchase decision in Syria. It was based on deductive methodology that guided us to collect the primary data through distributing a questionnaire which was based on Likert five scale. As well as the sample that was set from infinite population.
