To access global oil and gas deposits, major pipelines must traverse remote regions with extreme terrains. There are a significant number of pipeline projects, active or planned, in tropical jungles, mountains and deserts, in permafrost and in areas of wetland. Each of these natural environments is associated with a range of geohazards, which may include landslides, soil erosion, karst, river migration, and seismic or volcanic activity. At the same time, society demands increasing availability and reliability of supply, together with improved environmental standards, all making for substantial challenges.
Interface oral health science 2016 : Innovative research on biosis-abiosis intelligent interface
This volume broadens understanding of dentistry and promotes interdisciplinary research across a wide range of related fields, based on the symposium entitled "Innovative Research for Biosis–Abiosis Intelligent Interface 2016". It aims to create highly functional and autonomic intelligent interface by combining highly functional interface science with the technology of an evaluation and a control at the interface, with the various topics of biomaterials, innovation for oral science and application, regenerative oral science, and medical engineering. Since 2002, the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry has hosted “Interface Oral Health Science” several times as the main theme of dental research in the twenty-first century, and this is the sixth proceedings of the symposiums following the ones in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2014.
Interface oral health science 2014 : Innovative research on biosis-abiosis intelligent interface
The Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry first introduced the concept of “Interface Oral Health Science”, designed to establish and maintain healthy oral cavities, which are home to a number of mixed systems. Included in those systems are: (1) host tissues such as teeth, mucosa, muscle and bone, (2) parasites and microorganisms cohabiting the surfaces of the oral cavity, and (3) biomaterials that are used for the rehabilitation of oral functions. In addition, (4) these systems are subject to severe and complex mechanical forces. Therefore, it is critical to promote dental studies that integrate a wide range of interdisciplinary research as medicine, agriculture, material science, engineering, and pharmacology.
Interface Oral Health Science 2011
A compendium of the research presented at symposiums held in 2011 by the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry and by the Forsyth Institute. Its publication is intended provide further impetus for the progress of oral science and health, pointing the way for dental research for future generations.

Interface Oral Health Science is a major theme for next-generation dental research. That theme is based on the innovative concept that healthy oral function is provided by biological and biomechanical harmony among three systems: oral tissues including the teeth, mucosa, bones, and muscles (host); parasitic microorganisms of the oral cavity (parasites); and biomaterials. The concept posits that oral diseases such as dental caries, periodontal disease, and tempo- mandibular disorders should be interpreted as interface diseases that result from disruption of the intact interfaces among these systems. The uniqueness of this concept rests on the fact that it not only encompasses the entire fi eld of dentistry and dental care, but also expands the common ground shared with many other fields, including medicine, pharmaceutical science, agriculture, material science, and engineering.

Insurance intermediation : An economic analysis of the information services market
Insurance intermediaries can help consumers to economize on information and transaction costs in insurance markets. However, competing intermediaries provide heterogeneous information services, which are difficult to assess by incompletely informed consumers. Conduct and performance in the market for insurance information services are analyzed by applying search theoretical and industrial organization approaches. Based on a sample of 927 insurance intermediaries, the factors that affect the quality of the information services provided by them are studied empirically. The results obtained support the main hypotheses derived from industrial organization theories as to the poor working of quality competition under incomplete and asymmetric information on the side of consumers.

Experiments with different neural network structures and algorithms in order to achieve musical note recognition as well as musical instrument recognition, all bundled in a mobile application. The paper also explores why the instrument identifying AI is solely based on Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and why the note-identifying AI system was chosen to be a ML system over CNN or other deep-learning trained AI. The paper presents feature extraction methods for audio signals and files and dives deep into the process, such as FFT, MFCCs, Wavelengths, sampling rates, etc. It also touches on Logistic Regression Algorithms, their limitations, and their performance with the different use cases in the application. All these techniques are then compared side by side for maximally added value, making this research paper a good reference for any future developers looking to find optimal neural networks techniques when it comes to audio processing and analysis.

th This volume contains the papers presented at the 9 Information Security Conference (ISC 2006) held on Samos Island, Greece, during August 30 – September 2, 2006. The Conference was organized by the University of the Aegean, Greece. ISC was first initiated as a workshop, ISW in Japan in 1997, ISW 1999 in Mal- sia, ISW 2000 in Australia and then changed to the current name ISC when it was held in Spain in 2001 (ISC 2001). The latest conferences were held in Brazil (ISC 2002), UK (ISC 2003), USA (ISC 2004), and Singapore (ISC 2005). ISC 2006 provided an international forum for sharing original research results and application experiences among specialists in fundamental and applied problems of - formation security. In response to the Call for Papers, 188 papers were submitted. Each paper was - viewed by three members of the PC, on the basis of their significance, novelty, and technical quality. Of the papers submitted, 38 were selected for presentation, with an acceptance rate of 20%.
