Les techniques de monitorage hémodynamique en réanimation = Hemodynamic monitoring techniques in intensive care
The hemodynamic monitoring of intensive care patients is undergoing major changes. Technological advances such as computerization and miniaturization have made it possible to considerably expand the range of assessment tools available at the bedside. Thus, the approach to cardiovascular monitoring - which was once readily "invasive" and global - is gradually becoming non-invasive and locoregional or even tissue. At the same time, the combined evolution of technology and physiological and pathophysiological concepts now provides the clinician with access to a variety of "functional hemodynamic monitoring". The aim of this book is to provide a better understanding of the interest and the limits of the hemodynamic parameters accessible by current hemodynamic monitoring techniques. It thus aims to ensure that the use of these techniques is perfectly mastered by resuscitators and anesthetists-resuscitators so that patient care is ultimately optimal.

The gut-brain axis refers to the network of nerve pathways that connect the myenteric plexus, the veritable "gut brain," to the central nervous system. Nearly 80% of these neurons are sensory neurons, and the afferent pathways that transmit information from the digestive tract to the central nervous system play a crucial role in the physiological regulation of digestive functions, as well as in certain pathological conditions. A large majority of these sensations remain unconscious and give rise to reflex responses. Only those requiring a conscious response reach the level of awareness in a normal state (hunger, thirst, the urge to defecate). In pathological situations, the same is true for painful sensations of digestive origin. Functional bowel disorders are a frequent reason for consultation. Their pathophysiology is now based on a model integrating the various etiological factors around the brain-gut axis. These patients frequently present with visceral hypersensitivity, which manifests as an increased perception of digestive sensations, notably the onset of pain in response to stimuli that are not painful in normal subjects. Recognizing the role of visceral hypersensitivity has made it possible to explain the mechanism of action of medications used to treat functional bowel disorders and paves the way for the development of new molecules acting on digestive afferents. In this book, we will describe the anatomical and physiological basis for understanding the concept of visceral sensitivity and the role of digestive afferents in the pathophysiology of acute and chronic abdominal pain, particularly irritable bowel syndrome.
Leptin
The discovery of leptin little more than a decade ago, as a hormone produced in white adipose tissue with an important role in satiety and energy expenditure, was a seminal event in our understanding of adiposity. This initial advance in the new endocrinology of obesity was soon followed by the realization that leptin was not only produced in adipose tissue, but in many different tissues of the body, and that receptors were similarly distributed. Additionally, the early recognition of infertility that was associated with leptin deficiency prompted research that identified roles for the polypeptide in virtually every area of reproductive biology.

Lead-Free Electronic Solders : A Special Issue of the Journal of Materials Science : Materials in Electronics
In the last few decades the effect of lead contamination on human health has received significant attention. Based on such concerns, elimination of lead from ceramic glaze, paint, plumbing etc. has been legislated and implemented. However, until recently, solders used in electronics, based on suitability and knowledge-base developed over a long period of time, remained lead-based. Successive rapid advances in microelectronic devices in recent decades make them obsolete within a very short period after their introduction resulting in significant quantities of electronic wastes in landfills. Leaching of toxic lead from such electronic wastes can result in contamination of the human food chain causing serious health hazards. As a consequence, several European and Pacific Rim countries have passed legislations warranting elimination of lead from electronic solders by fast approaching deadlines. Global economic pressures brought on by such legislations have resulted in a flurry of research activities to find suitable lead-free substitutes for the traditional leaded electronic solders.

Public health action on such a scale is exemplary in Europe and especially in France where the health system is not centralized. The new edition of this book takes stock of the current state of the program and its initial results. It updates technical and radiological aspects, assessment indicators, communication and forensic problems and finally the progress of foreign programs. The history of the French program is detailed from the 1990s until 2006, with the publication of the latest version of the specifications by the Directorate General of Health. A novel line of defense that helps artists and visual content creators actively protect their pieces emerged, dubbed Data Poisoning and it works by misleading Artificial Intelligence models that attempt to use a Poisoned Image for training, or as a reference, as the Poisoned Image will appear to the human eye identical to the original art piece, while the Artificial Intelligence model will be seeing a remarkably different image, causing generative models to generate false positive results when given a prompt poisoned by the author or when trained on data poisoned by the original owner. This study aims to study image data poisoning methods and technologies, and build an application containing multiple image models, and poisoning models as well, accompanied by a Community for artists to share art and interact with each other.
