In today’s dynamic global business environment where knowledge is a main asset and learning becomes the most important process, Business Education needs to employ the right practices to develop future leaders. Businesses require graduates that become true experts. But can business schools indeed create learning experiences that address the needs of the global marketplace? Long-baseline interferometry has been traditionally regarded as a very technical method with a limited number of applications. The Political Economy of Fiscal Policy : Public Deficits, Volatility, and Growth
One of the most striking macroeconomic developments during the last three decades is the rise and persistence of large fiscal deficits in a number of countries. Despite recent major fiscal reforms around the world, many countries suffer from recurrent large fiscal imbalances that often reflect lack of fiscal discipline. Why do some countries have recurrent fiscal deficit or volatility problems, while others do not? What factors are most important in explaining cross-country variation in fiscal outcomes? How are they related to growth or inflation? This book presents new, rigorous, theoretical and empirical studies on these fiscal issues, and highlights social polarization as an essential organizing principle in a political economy approach. Collecting evidence from archaeological ruins, Islamic towns, modern cities, Arabic poetry, philosophical debates, political conflicts, puppet shows and the insights of modern-day market-goers, the book presents new and unforeseen interpretations of the Arabian sūq’s meaning and its transformation through time and place.
