Advances in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
Provides a concise overview of recent advances in Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Pharmacodynamics (PD). The pharmacokinetics section covers the state of the art in Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling (Chapter 1) as well as the assessment of food effect on drug absorption using PBPK modeling (Chapter 2). Chapters 3 and 4 describe the recent development of Physiologically Based Finite Time Pharmacokinetic (PBFTPK) models and their applications to pharmacokinetic data. The pharmacodynamics section focuses on PK/PD modeling. Chapter 5 provides an overview of PK/PD modeling and simulation in clinical practice and studies. Advances in Meshfree Techniques
In recent years meshless/meshfree methods have gained a considerable attention in engineering and applied mathematics. The variety of problems that are now being addressed by these techniques continues to expand and the quality of the results obtained demonstrates the effectiveness of many of the methods currently available. It surveys the fascinating connections between discrete models in differential geometry and complex analysis, integrable systems and applications in computer graphics. The authors take a closer look at discrete models in differential geometry and dynamical systems. Their curves are polygonal, surfaces are made from triangles and quadrilaterals, and time is discrete. Nevertheless, the difference between the corresponding smooth curves, surfaces and classical dynamical systems with continuous time can hardly be seen. This is the paradigm of structure-preserving discretizations. Current advances in this field are stimulated to a large extent by its relevance for computer graphics and mathematical physics.
