The authors of this book analyse the social and technical nature and role of XBRL in information supply chains and capital markets as well as the XBRL standard and taxonomies. They provide a critical view of XBRL from a research perspective, present different projects in the XBRL area and indicate future directions for XBRL research. Current research questions are taken up and discussed from different perspectives. From a technical point of view, the research spectrum encompasses the internal perspective up to the final user layer. Apart from these technical issues, there are also key socio-technical aspects which are vital to the understanding of XBRL use.

New Computational Paradigms ; 1st Conference on Computability in Europe, CiE 2005, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, June 8-12, 2005, Proceedings
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the first International Conference on Computability in Europe, CiE 2005, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in June 2005. The 68 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 144 submissions. Among them are papers corresponding to two tutorials, six plenary talks and papers of six special sessions involving mathematical logic and computer science at the same time as offering the methodological foundations for models of computation. The papers address many aspects of computability in Europe with a special focus on new computational paradigms. These include first of all connections between computation and physical systems (e.g., quantum and analog computation, neural nets, molecular computation), but also cover new perspectives on models of computation arising from basic research in mathematical logic and theoretical computer science.

In this book, various aspects of cognitive and emotional behaviour is described. In chapter one, a state of the art introduction to VH is presented and the associated research is given. In Chapter 2, cognitive and emotions processes are described. A Comprehensive context model for multi-party interactions with the VH is given in the next chapter. Finally, it is very important to model the socializing of groups of virtual humans. This is discussed in Chapter 4. The automatic modelling of expressions for VH is described in Chapter 5. The last chapter gives a case study of an intelligent kios avatar and its usability.

Neurodegeneration in Multiple Sclerosis
In multiple sclerosis (MS), conventional magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI) has proved to be a valuable tool to increase diagnostic reliability and to monitor the efficacy of experimental treatment. However, cMRI has limited specificity and accuracy as to the most disabling aspects of the MS pathology, known to occur in and outside macroscopic lesions. Modern quantitative MR techniques have the potential to overcome the limitations of cMRI, and their application is dramatically changing our understanding of how MS causes irreversible disability.

The areas that have been explored, in particular, are the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the activity of neurosteroids in the brain, the role of neurosteroids in brain development, neurodegeneration and neuroplasticity, and their pharmacological properties. The large increase in the number of publications highlights this amplified interest in neurosteroids. Over the last 7 years at least 400 papers have been published describing the putative role of neurosteroids in the modulation of basic brain function and in the etiology and treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders.
