Learning to Live in the Knowledge Society ; IFIP 20th World Computer Congress, IFIP TC 3 ED-L2L Conference September 7–10, 2008, Milano, Italy
The IFIP series publishes state-of-the-art results in the sciences and technologies of information and communication. The scope of the series includes: foundations of computer science; software theory and practice; education; computer applications in technology; communication systems; systems modeling and optimization; information systems; computers and society; computer systems technology; security and protection in information processing systems; artificial intelligence; and human-computer interaction. Proceedings and post-proceedings of refereed international conferences in computer science and interdisciplinary fields are featured. These results often precede journal publication and represent the most current research.

The impact on girls is greater than on boys: modification of the uterine cervix, reduction in the volume of the uterus with its consequences on fertility and the progress of pregnancies, risk of cancer of the vagina and the cervix. . The potential repercussions on the third generation are analyzed from experimental studies. Finally, the medico-legal implication is studied from the various trials that took place in the United States and from the first French trial that took place in Nanterre in November 2003. This work is the result of the collaboration of several experts recognized for their competence in this field. It will be of interest to all obstetrician gynecologists, urologists, but also public health physicians and midwives.

The 5th International Conference on Large-Scale Scientific Computations (LSSC 2005) was held in Sozopol, Bulgaria, June 6–10, 2003. The conference was organized and sponsored by the Institute for Parallel Processing at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Partial support was also provided from project BIS-21++ funded by the European Commission in FP6 INCO via grant 016639/2005. More than 120 participants from all over the world attended the conference representing some of the strongest research groups in the field of advanced largescale scientific computing. In line with its reputation as one of the pre-eminent fora for the discussion and debate of advances of distributed systems management, the 2006 iteration of DSOM brought together an international audience of researchers and practitioners from both industry and academia. th DSOM 2006 was the 17 in a series of annual workshops, and it followed the footsteps of highly successful previous meetings, the most recent of which were held in Barcelona, Spain (DSOM 2005), Davis, USA (DSOM 2004), Heidelberg, Germany (DSOM 2003), Montreal, Canada (DSOM 2002) and Nancy, France (DSOM 2001). The goal of the DSOM workshops is to bring together researchers in the areas of networks, systems and services management, from both industry and academia, to discuss recent advances and foster future growth in these ?elds. In contrast to the larger management symposia, such as Integrated Management (IM) and Network Operations and Management (NOMS), the DSOM workshops are organised as sing- track programmes in order to stimulate interaction among participants.

The fact is not without relevance, if the principle is valid that the recognition of the causes of a disease is also the first and necessary approach towards its correct therapy. With this publication, the authors wanted to offer specialists working in the field of assisted reproduction an update on this complex subject, dealing with both genetic causes in male infertility and infertility in genetic diseases.
La disprassia in età evolutiva : Criteri di valutazione ed intervento = Dyspraxia in developmental age : Evaluation criteria and intervention
As clinical and rehabilitation practice shows, children with dyspraxia are unable to plan and organize an action plan; they cannot control what they are doing during an action; therefore, they cannot do something, but we could also admit that they cannot yet do something; that is, they have not yet learned to perform functions. Functions and actions, however, can be learned and performed with the help of targeted exercises performed consistently. It is, however, essential to recognize the difficulties children with dyspraxia face when faced with new, unusual tasks. The author proposes an assessment and intervention model that takes into account etiological and neuropsychological hypotheses, emphasizing the need to proceed with an analysis on multiple levels: perceptual, motor, and representational. Particular importance is given to early diagnosis and intervention to define and implement appropriate treatment plans. The work concludes with the analysis and description of clinical cases related to some specific forms of dyspraxia: verbal dyspraxia and dysgraphia.

This is a special KES conference, as it is the 10th in the series, and as such, it represents an occasion for celebration and an opportunity for reflection. The first KES conference was held in 1997 and was organised by the KES conference founder, Lakhmi Jain. In 1997, 1998 and 1999 the KES conferences were held in Adelaide, Australia. In 2000 the conference moved out of Australia to be held in Brighton, UK; in 2001 it was in Osaka, Japan; in 2002, Crema near Milan, Italy; in 2003, Oxford, UK; in 2004, Wellington, New Zealand; and in 2005, Melbourne, Australia. The next two conferences are planned to be in Italy and Croatia. Delegate numbers have grown from about 100 in 1997, to a regular figure in excess of 500. The conference attracts delegates from many different countries, in Europe, Australasia, the Pacific Rim, Asia and the Americas, and may truly be said to be ‘International’.
