Quadrature Domains and Their Applications : The Harold S. Shapiro Anniversary Volume
Quadrature domains were singled out about 30 years ago by D. Aharonov and H.S. Shapiro in connection with an extremal problem in function theory. Since then, a series of coincidental discoveries put this class of planar domains at the center of crossroads of several quite independent mathematical theories, e.g., potential theory, Riemann surfaces, inverse problems, holomorphic partial differential equations, fluid mechanics, operator theory. The volume is devoted to recent advances in the theory of quadrature domains, illustrating well the multi-facet aspects of their nature. The book contains a large collection of open problems pertaining to the general theme of quadrature domains.
QoS in Packet Networks
QoS is an important subject which occupies a central place in overall packet network technologies. A complex subject, its analysis involves such mathematical disciplines as probability, random variables, stochastic processes and queuing. These mathematical subjects are abstract, not easy to grasp for uninitiated persons. QoS in Packet Networks is written with two objectives. Discussion of the functional requirements of the packet networks to provide QoS is included. QoS in Packet Networks is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners in industry. This volume is also suitable for graduate-level students in computer science and electrical engineering.
q-Clan Geometries in Characteristic 2
This monograph offers the only comprehensive, coherent treatment of the theory - in characteristic 2 - of the so-called flock quadrangles, i.e., those generalized quadrangles (GQ) that arise from q-clans, along with their associated ovals. Special attention is given to the determination of the complete oval stabilizers of each of the ovals associated with a flock GQ. A concise but logically complete introduction to the basic ideas is given. The theory of these flock GQ has evolved over the past two decades and has reached a level of maturation that makes it possible for the first time to give a satisfactory, unified treatment of all the known examples.
Pyrometamorphism
Pyrometamorphism is a type of contact metamorphism (sanidinite facies) involving very high temperatures that may cause fusion in suitable lithologies at very low pressures. The high temperatures are attained by flow of mafic magma through conduits, by way of spontaneous combustion of coal, carbonaceous sediments, oil and gas, and through the action of lightning strikes. Temperature gradients are typically extreme, varying by several hundred degrees over a few metres or even centimetres. Relatively short periods of heating and cooling create an environment dominated by metastable melting and rapid mineral reaction rates driven by significant temperature overstepping of equilibrium conditions. This results in the formation of a large variety of minerals, many of which are metastable and are only found in pyrometamorphic rocks.

Psychrophiles : From Biodiversity to Biotechnology
Of the current studies on extremophiles, approximately 30,000 articles by the year 2007, almost two-thirds have been performed on organisms adapted to outstanding temperatures, but much more attention has been paid to thermophiles than to psychrophiles. However, over the past 10 years, scientific publications on cold-adapted microorganisms have increased by a factor of ten. These microorganisms have evolved a number of strategies to thrive success-fully in cold habitats where they play key roles in nutrient cycling, such as nitrogen fixation, nitrification and denitrification, photosynthesis, sulfur oxidation and reduction, methanogenesis, and transformation of organic compounds. This book is focused on psychrophiles and describes, at the edge of knowledge, representative groups of cold-adapted microorganisms as well as the habitats in which they live and their strategies to cope with the cold.

Proportional Hazards Regression
The place in survival analysis now occupied by proportional hazards models and their generalizations is so large that it is no longer conceivable to offer a course on the subject without devoting at least half of the content to this topic alone. This book focuses on the theory and applications of a very broad class of models—proportional hazards and non-proportional hazards models, the former being viewed as a special case of the latter—which underlie modern survival analysis. Unlike other books in this area the emphasis is not on measure theoretic arguments for stochastic integrals and martingales. Instead, while inference based on counting processes and the theory of martingales is covered, much greater weight is placed on more traditional results such as the functional central limit theorem.

Upon creating the account, users are able to list their items, information about the items include: photos, names, descriptions, types, color and optionally receipt numbers, prices or storage space. Users are also able to remove items and update information on previously listed items in order to report any damage.
