Security in ad-hoc and sensor networks ; 1st European Workshop, ESAS 2004, Heidelberg, Germany, August 6, 2004, Revised Selected Papers
Ad hoc and sensor networks are making their way from research to real-world deployments. Body and personal-area networks, intelligent homes, environmental monitoring or inter-vehicle communications: there is almost nothing left that is not going to be smart and networked. While a great amount of research has been devoted to the pure networking aspects, ad hoc and sensor networks will not be successfully deployed if security, dependability, and privacy issues are not addressed adequately.

Secure Localization and Time Synchronization for Wireless Sensor and Ad Hoc Networks
Secure Localization and Time Synchronization for Wireless Sensor and Ad Hoc Networks presents the latest research results in the area of secure localization and time synchronization for both wireless mobile ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks. Recent advances in computing have exposed the potential security problems inherent in mobile ad hoc and wireless sensor networks. Subject to attacks and intrusions due to its open spectrum nature, wireless network localization and synchronization must be both robust and secure. Localization and time synchronization are critical processes for achieving sensor network security. Furthermore, issues such as energy constraints and mobility make the localization process even more challenging.
Secure Data Science : Integrating Cyber Security and Data Science
Data science techniques being applied not only for cyber security but also for every application area—including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and marketing—could be attacked by malware. Furthermore, due to the power of data science, it is now possible to infer highly private and sensitive information from public data, which could result in the violation of individual privacy. This is the first such book that provides a comprehensive overview of integrating both cyber security and data science and discusses both theory and practice in secure data science.
Secure and Smart Internet of Things (IoT) Using Blockchain and AI
Up to 28 billion devices will be connected to the Internet with only one third of them being computers, smartphones and tablets. The remaining two thirds will be other "devices"--Sensors, terminals, household appliances, thermostats, televisions, automobiles, production machinery, urban infrastructure and many other "things"--which traditionally have not been Internet enabled. This "Internet of Things" (IoT) represents a remarkable transformation of the way in which our world will soon interact. Much like the World Wide Web connected computers to networks, and the next evolution connected people to the Internet and other people, IoT looks poised to interconnect devices, people, environments, virtual objects and machines in ways that only science fiction writers could have imagined.
Secrets of the Old One : Einstein, 1905
In March 1905, at approximately eight week intervals, the Editor of the noted German physics journal, Annalen der Physik, received three hand-written manuscripts from a relatively unknown patent examiner in Bern, Switzerland. This patent examiner was the twenty-six year old Albert Einstein and the three papers would set the agenda for twentieth century physics. A fourth short paper was received in September 1905 and contained Einstein's derivation of the formula E=mc^2. These papers changed our lives in the twentieth century and beyond. While to a professional physicist the mathematics in these papers are quite straight forward, the ideas behind them are not. In fact, none of Einstein's contemporaries fully understood what he had done. In SECRETS OF THE OLD ONE: Einstein, 1905, renowned science writer Jeremy Bernstein makes these ideas accessible to a general reader with a limited background in mathematics.
Second-Generation HTS Conductors
The book is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the three meth-ods to fabricate biaxially textured substrates, upon which, epitaxial YBCO or otherHTS materials can be deposited to realize a single-crystal-like HTS wire. The secondsection includes chapters on various methods of HTS deposition such as—pulsed laserablation (PLD), thermal co-evaporation, sputtering, pulsed electron beam deposition,ex-situBaF2by co-evaporation flowed by annealing, chemical solution basedex-situprocesses, jet vapor deposition, metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD),and liquid phase epitaxy (LPE). The third section includes detailed chapters on otherHTS materials such as the various Tl-based and Hg-based conductors
Secondary Education at the Crossroads : International Perspectives Relevant to the Asia-Pacific Region
Education is a universal priority. Currently, it is at a crossroad. In every society it is valued as a major road to produce more productive, more harmonious and healthier citizens. Yet, in every setting there is deep dissatisfaction with the overall performance of education and there are major moves towards reform, sometimes superficial but more often fundamental. These reform processes have had only moderate and very uneven success. Too often they are episodic, reflecting a short-term approach which is frequently changed for the latest enthusiasm or the most recent administration. In Asia and the Pacific countries many systems are in the process of construction or reconstruction.

Searching for Water in the Universe
In Searching for Water in the Solar System, Thérèse Encrenaz takes the reader on a journey through the Universe in search of water. She begins by introducing the most well-known of molecule H2O, its physical and chemical characteristics and its cosmic Formation and abundance. She examines the methods by which the presence of water is detected, both within the solar system and beyond. One by one she visits a diversity of locations in the cosmos, from the nearest planets to the furthest galaxies, where water has been discovered. In the formation of the solar system, she explains how the water molecule played a major part, with the so-called ‘ice frontier’ determining the natures of the terrestrial and giant planets.
SDL 2005 : Model Driven ; 12th International SDL Forum, Grimstad, Norway, June 20-23, 2005, Proceedings
This paradigm is based on the following important principles of distributed - plications: Communication: large systems tend to be described using smaller parts that communicate with each other; State: the systems are described on the basis of an explicit notion of state; State change: the behavior of the system is described in terms of (local) changes of the state. The original language is not the only representative for this kind of paradigm, so the scope of the SDL Forum was extended quite soon after the ?rst few events to also include other ITU standardized languages of the same family, such as MSC, ASN.1 and TTCN. This led to the current scope of System Design Languages covering all stages of the development process including in particular SDL, MSC, UML, ASN.1, eODL, TTCN, and URN. The focus is clearly on the advantages to users, and how to get from these languages the same advantage given by the ITU Specification and Description Language: code generation from high-level speci?cations.
Screw Compressors : Three Dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics and Solid Fluid Interaction
This book - the authors' second book on screw compressors – presents the results of the most up to date methods of three-dimensional modeling of the fluid dymanics and the solid-fluid interaction within these machines, which are still being developed. By including them in the design process, it is possible, not only to predict flow patterns more accurately, and hence improve the design of the critical components, but also to determine how the pressure and temperature distribution within the compressor distorts the rotors and casing and how this, in turn, has an interactive effect on the performance.
Screw Compressors : Mathematical Modelling and Performance Calculation
The first part of "Screw Compressors" gives a review of recent developments in screw compressor design. The second part presents a generalized mathematical definition of screw machine rotors and describes some well known lobe shapes in detail. The third part treats the mathematical modelling of the thermodynamics and fluid mechanics of compression and expansion processes. The fourth and fifth parts discuss the principles used and describe the application of the analytical procedures and rotor profiling techniques, presented in the earlier chapters, to the design of a number of twin screw compressors, currently manufactured including the examples of combining expansion and compression in the same machine.
Screening of hepatitis B and hepatitis C in hemodialysis patients
Hepatitis is a liver infection characterized by inflammation of the liver tissue. Infectious causes of hepatitis include viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections, as well as non-infectious causes, such as radiation, drugs, chemicals, autoimmune diseases, and toxins. Viral infection accounts for most hepatitis cases observed in the clinical setting. The main subtypes of hepatitis include HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV, and HEV. Infections with these viruses can lead to the onset of acute disease with symptoms, including jaundice, dark urine, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Some subtypes, such as HBV and HCV, can lead to the prolonged elevation of serum transaminase level (longer than 6 months), a condition termed chronic hepatitis.
