Fuzzy Logic and Applications ; Vol. 2955 ; 5th International Workshop, WILF 2003, Naples, Italy, October 9-11, 2003, Revised Selected Papers
This volume constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the 5th International Workshop on Fuzzy Logic and Applications held in Naples, Italy, in October 2003. The 40 revised full papers presented have gone through two rounds of reviewing and revision. All current issues of theoretical, experimental and applied fuzzy logic and related techniques are addressed with special attention to rough set theory, neural networks, genetic algorithms and soft computing.
Fuzzy Group Theory
This book presents an up-to-date account of research in important topics of fuzzy group theory. The book concentrates on the theoretical aspects of fuzzy subgroups of a group. It also includes applications to some abstract recognition problems and to coding theory. The book begins with basic properties of fuzzy subgroups. The notions of ascending series and descending series of fuzzy subgroups are used to define nilpotency of a fuzzy subgroup. The material presented in this book makes it a good reference for graduate students and researchers working in fuzzy group theory.
Fuzzy database modeling with XML
Fuzzy Database Modeling with XML aims to provide a single record of current research and practical applications in the fuzzy databases. This volume is the outgrowth of research the author has conducted in recent years. Fuzzy Database Modeling with XML introduces state of the art information to the database research, while at the same time serving the information technology professional faced with a non-traditional application that defeats conventional approaches. The research on fuzzy conceptual models and fuzzy object-oriented databases is receiving increasing attention, in addition to fuzzy relational database models. With rapid advances in network and internet techniques as well, the databases have been applied under the environment of distributed information systems. It is essential in this case to integrate multiple fuzzy database systems. Since databases are commonly employed to store and manipulate XML data, additional requirements are necessary to model fuzzy information with XML. Second, this book maps fuzzy XML model to the fuzzy databases. Very few efforts at investigating these issues have thus far occurred.
Fuzzy Control of Queuing Systems
21 detailed case studies demonstrate an efficient departure from classical techniques. Unique work creating a new Research and Development topic. Multidisciplinary approach that will benefit researchers and students throughout the fields of artificial intelligence, operations research, optimal control, Internet techniques, communications and traffic control industries. Equipped with an extensive bibliography for easy reference and scope for further study.
Fuzzy Control : Fundamentals, Stability and Design of Fuzzy Controllers
The book provides a critical discussion of fuzzy controllers from the perspective of classical control theory. Special emphases are placed on topics that are of importance for industrial applications, like (self-) tuning of fuzzy controllers, optimisation and stability analysis. The book is written as a textbook for graduate students as well as a comprehensive reference book about fuzzy control for researchers and application engineers. Starting with a detailed introduction to fuzzy systems and control theory the reader is guided to up-to-date research results.
Fuzzy Choice Functions : A Revealed Preference Approach
This book extends the theory of revealed preference to fuzzy choice functions and provides applications to multicriteria decision making problems. The main topics of revealed preference theory (rationality, revealed preference and congruence axioms, consistency conditions) are treated in the framework of fuzzy choice functions. New topics, such as the degree of dominance and similarity of vague choices, are developed. The results obtained are applied to economic problems where partial information and human subjectivity involve vague choices and vague preferences. The book contains a number of new results achieved by the author. Even though the text is reasonably self-contained, previous knowledge of revealed preference and fuzzy set theory is helpful for the reader.
Future Generation Grids
Future Generation Grids is the second in the CoreGRID series. This edited volume brings together contributed articles by scientists and researchers in the Grid community in an attempt to draw a clearer picture of the future generation Grids. This book also identifies some of the most challenging problems on the way to achieving the invisible Grid ideas.
Fungal Genomics
Presents an overview on mutualistic and pathogenic interactions between fungi and plants. This book offers reviews on fungal lifestyles, mechanisms of their interactions with their host plants, signal perception and transduction, and plant defense responses directed against attack by fungal pathogens. It is suitable for students in microbiology.
Fundamentals of Structural Dynamics : Theory and Computation
Emphasizes numerical methods, nonlinear response of structures, and the analysis of continuous systems (e.g., wave propagation). Fundamentals of Structural Dynamics: Theory and Computation builds the theory of structural dynamics from simple single-degree-of-freedom systems through complex nonlinear beams and frames in a consistent theoretical context supported by an extensive set of MATLAB codes that not only illustrate and support the principles, but provide powerful tools for exploration. The book is designed for students learning structural dynamics for the first time but also serves as a reference for professionals throughout their careers.
Fundamentals of Radiation Materials Science : Metals and Alloys
adiation Materials Science teaches readers the fundamentals of the effects of radiation on metals and alloys. When energetic particles strike a solid, numerous processes occur that can change the physical and mechanical properties of the material. Metals and alloys represent an important class of materials that, by virtue of their use in nuclear reactor cores, are subject to intense radiation fields. Radiation causes metals and alloys to swell, distort, blister, harden, soften and deform. This textbook and reference covers the basics of particle-atom interaction for a range of particle types, the amount and spatial extent of the resulting radiation damage, the physical effects of irradiation and the changes in mechanical behavior of irradiated metals and alloys. Concepts are developed systematically and quantitatively, supported by examples, references for further reading and problems at the end of each chapter
Fundamentals of Magnetism
In the last decade a tremendous progress has taken place in understanding the basis of magnetism, especially in reduced dimensions. In the first part, the fundamentals of magnetism are conveyed for atoms and bulk-like solid-state systems providing a basis for the understanding of new phenomena which exclusively occur in low-dimensional systems as the giant magneto resistance. This wide field is discussed in the second part and illustrated by copious examples. This textbook is particularly suitable for graduate students in physical and materials sciences. It includes numerous examples, exercises, and references.
Fundamentals of implant dentistry ; Vol.1 : Prosthodontic Principles
Focuses on the design and fabrication of implantretained prostheses. The authors of this definitive textbook cover the full range of restorative treatment options for edentulous and partially edentulous situations, from relatively simple problems that can be handled by a solo practitioner to those with substantial prosthodontic complexities, periodontal compromise of existing dentition, and significant bone and soft tissue defects. Throughout, the authors emphasize the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and demonstrate how it encourages the best results, particularly when restoring partially edentulous patients.
