Next Generation Supply Chains : A Roadmap for Research and Innovation
This book explores supply chains strategies to help companies face challenges such as societal emergency, digitalization, climate changes and scarcity of resources. The book identifies industrial scenarios for the next decade based on the analysis of trends at social, economic, environmental technological and political level, and examines how they may impact on supply chain processes and how to design next generation supply chains to answer these challenges.
New Trends in Soil Micromorphology
The soil water retention curve, the saturated hydraulic conductivity and the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity function are basic soil hydraulic functions and parameters. Ample apprehension of the soil hydraulic functions and parameters is required for a successful formulation of the principles leading to sustainable soil management, agricultural production and environmental protection. From these, all the other parameters, required in the solution of the practical tasks, are derived.
New Trends and Technologies in Computer-Aided Learning for Computer-Aided Design ; IFIP International Working Conference: EduTech 2005, Perth, Australia, October 20-21, 2005
Computation and communication technologies underpin work and development in many different areas. Among them, Computer-Aided Design of electronic systems and E-Learning technologies are two areas which are different but share many concerns. The design of CAD and E-Learning systems already touches on a number of parallels, such as system interoperability, user interfaces, standardization, EML-based formats, reusability aspects (of content or designs), and intellectual property rights. Furthermore, the teaching of Design Automation tools and methods is particularly amenable to a distant or blended learning setting, and implies the interconnection of typical CAD tools, such as simulators or synthesis tools, with e-learning tools. There are many other aspects in which synergy can be found when using E-Learning technology for teaching and learning technology. This workshop, sponsored by IFIP WG 10.5 Design and Engineering of Electronic Systems in cooperation with IFIP WG 3.6 Distance Education, will explore the interrelationship between these two subjects, where Computer-Aided Design meets Computer-Aided Learning. New Trends and Technologies in Computer-Aided Learning for Computer-Aided Design documents recent approaches and results presented at the EduTech 2005 Workshop, which was held in October 2005 in Perth, Australia and sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). The topics chosen for this working conference are very timely: learning environments, tools and applications for education, education technologies and trends, and teaching in the hardware design area.
New Methodologies and Techniques for a Sustainable Organic Chemistry
Chemical industries have to face the big challenge of finding adequate processes to produce large quantities of new products for which there is a present need, decreasing at the same time both the impact on the environment and the risk of disasters. These issues have led to the establishment of new concepts of sustainable development as affirmed in the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development in the early 90’s and has been the subject of intensive studies in the last two decades. The book addresses this challenge collecting the recent “New Methodologies and Techniques for a Sustainable Organic Chemistry”.
New Issues and Paradigms in Research on Social Dilemmas
This edited volume has been compiled to present new theoretical and methodological developments in the field of social dilemma research. Social dilemmas are situations when there is a conflict between self-interest and collective interest. Research in this area has gained interest in the last twenty years in disciplines such as sociology, psychology, and economics. It also has wide applications to numerous real-world issues including environmental degradation, organizational management, and provision of societal public good. The three sections in the volume mirror the different levels of analysis in this research: the individual, group, and societal levels.
New Frontiers in Environmental and Social Labeling
The attractiveness of product labeling stems from their voluntary nature to achieve environmental and social goals. It is argued that through product price premia which reflect the willingness of consumers to pay more for green and socially conscious products, labels have the potential to generate changes in production techniques. In addition, labeling of products has become the preferred instrument for solving high profile trade disputes amongst members of the World Trade Organization. The contributions in this volume provide an indepth look at labeling and its relation to the governance of global trade. The book aims at bridging the research gaps related to the link between consumers’ perception of a label with their willingness to pay, the impact and the limitations of labeling in the event of food safety hazards, and the trade and development dimensions of labeling.
New Forms of Governance in Research Organizations : Disciplinary Approaches, Interfaces and Integration
This book undertakes to develop a sector specific theory of governance of the public research sector and applies it to the German research system. The book is the outcome of a large interdisciplinary project. It analyzes the reforms in the German research system from an integrated perspective of law, economics and social sciences. First, we pose the question how external competition and control mechanisms do influence internal governance of research institutions and universities and vice versa. Second, we discuss the consequences of these impacts on research.

They have a worldwide distribution and are commonly found in decaying organic material or agricultural and forest soils (1). Mucormycosis is a group of mould infections caused by fungi in the class previously known as Zygomycetes now renamed Mucormycetes (2).

This volume contains revised versions of selected papers presented during the biannual meeting of the Classification and Data Analysis Group of SocietA Italiana di Statistica, which was held in Bologna, September 22-24, 2003. The scientific program of the conference included 80 contributed papers. the conference provided a large number of scientists and experts from home and abroad with an attractive forum for discussions and mutual exchange of knowledge. The talks in the different sessions focused on methodological developments in supervised and unsupervised classification and in data analysis, also p- viding relevant contributions in the context of applications. New Business Models for the Reuse of Secondary Resources from WEEEs : The FENIX Project
This book summarizes research being pursued within the FENIX project, funded by the EU community under the H2020 programme, the goal of which is to design a new product service paradigm able to promote innovative business models, to open added value to the vessels and to create new market segments. It experiments and validates its approach on three new concepts of added-value specialized vessels able to run requested services for several maritime sectors in the most effective, efficient, economic valuable and eco-friendly way. The three vessels share the same lean design methodology, IoT tools and HPC simulation strategy: a lean fact-based design model approach, which combines real operative data at sea with lean methodology, to support the development and implementation of the vessel concepts; IT customized tools to enable the acquisition, processing and usage of on board and local weather data, through an IoT platform, to provide business services to different stakeholders; HPC simulation, providing a virtual towing tank environment, for early vessel design improvement and testing. The book demonstrates that an integrated LCC analysis and LCC strategy to guarantee sustainability to vessels concepts and the proper environmental attention inside the maritime industry.

New Advances in Virtual Humans: Artificial Intelligence Environment
In this book, various aspects of cognitive and emotional behaviour is described. In chapter one, a state of the art introduction to VH is presented and the associated research is given. In Chapter 2, cognitive and emotions processes are described. A Comprehensive context model for multi-party interactions with the VH is given in the next chapter. Finally, it is very important to model the socializing of groups of virtual humans. This is discussed in Chapter 4. The automatic modelling of expressions for VH is described in Chapter 5. The last chapter gives a case study of an intelligent kios avatar and its usability.

This book presents biologically inspired walking machines interacting with their physical environment. It describes how the designs of the morphology and the behavior control of walking machines can benefit from biological studies. Neoproterozoic Geobiology and Paleobiology
The Neoproterozoic Era (1000-542 million years ago) is a geological period of dramatic climatic change and important evolutionary innovations. Repeated glaciations of unusual magnitude occurred throughout this tumultuous interval, and various eukaryotic clades independently achieved multicellularity, becoming more complex, abundant, and diverse at its termination. Animals made their first debut in the Neoproterozoic too. The intricate interaction among these geological and biological events is a centrepiece of Earth system history, and has been the focus of geobiological investigations in recent decades. The purpose of this volume is to present a sample of views and visions among some of the growing numbers of Neoproterozoic workers. The contributions represent a cross section of recent insights into the field of Neoproterozoic geobiology.
