Machine Learning for Cyber Physical Systems : Selected papers from the International Conference ML4CPS 2018
Presents new approaches to Machine Learning for Cyber Physical Systems, experiences and visions. Cyber Physical Systems are characterized by their ability to adapt and to learn: They analyze their environment and, based on observations, they learn patterns, correlations and predictive models. Typical applications are condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, image processing and diagnosis. Machine Learning is the key technology for these developments.
Machine Learning : Modeling Data Locally and Globally
Machine Learning - Modeling Data Locally and Globally presents a novel and unified theory that tries to seamlessly integrate different algorithms. Specifically, the book distinguishes the inner nature of machine learning algorithms as either "local learning"or "global learning."This theory not only connects previous machine learning methods, or serves as roadmap in various models, but – more importantly – it also motivates a theory that can learn from data both locally and globally. This would help the researchers gain a deeper insight and comprehensive understanding of the techniques in this field. The book reviews current topics, new theories and applications.
Machine Ethics : From Machine Morals to the Machinery of Morality
Offers the first systematic guide to machine ethics, bridging between computer science, social sciences and philosophy. Based on a dialogue between an AI scientist and a novelist philosopher, the book discusses important findings on which moral values machines can be taught and how. In turn, it investigates what kind of artificial intelligence (AI) people do actually want.

Location- and Context-Awareness ; Vol. 3479 ; First International Workshop, LoCA 2005, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, May 12-13, 2005, Proceedings
The workshop was organized by the Institute of Communications and Navigation of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfa?enhofen, and the Mobile and Distributed Systems Group of the University of Munich. During the workshop, novel positioning algorithms and location sensing techniques were discussed, comprising not only enhancements of singular systems, like positioning in GSM or WLAN, but also hybrid technologies, such as the integration of global satellite systems with inertial positioning. Furthermore, improvements in sensor technology, as well as the integration and fusion of sensors, were addressed both on a theoretical and on an implementation level. Personal and confidential data, such as location data of users, have p- found implications for personal information privacy. Thus privacy protection, privacy-oriented location-aware systems, and how privacy aspects the feasibility and usefulness of systems were also addressed in the workshop.

Levity of Design : Cambridge Scholars Publishing
How can poetry embrace morality through focusing on metaphrasts? What is the relation between an allummette and the alpha rhythm? Why is it that money has turned into a metonym of goodness and success? And above all, is it still possible to think of the human subject as a viable category in late modernity? These are some of the questions that J.
Leveraging Applications of Formal Methods ; 1st International Symposium, ISoLA 2004, Paphos, Cyprus, October 30 - November 2, 2004, Revised Selected Papers
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the First International Symposium on Leveraging Applications of Formal Methods, ISoLA 2004, held in Paphos, Cyprus in October/November 2004. The 12 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from more than 70 submissions. The papers discuss issues related to the adoption and use of rigorous tools and methods for the specification, analysis, verification, certification, construction, test, and maintenance of systems. In particular, by discussing common problems, requirements, algorithms, methodologies, and practices, ISoLA aims at supporting researchers in their quest to improve the utility, reliability, flexibility, and efficiency of tools for building systems, and users in their search for adequate solutions to their problems.
Lectins
In the intervening years well over 10,000 articles have appeared with lectins as the main subject, and more than twice as many in which they were touched upon, as well as around 20 books. In particular, great strides have been made in several areas of lectin research, about which little was known until the late 1980s. One prominent example is animal lectins, many of which have been discovered only during the last decade and the functions of several of which have been clarified, especially as to their key role in innate immunity.

Large scale management of distributed systems ; 17th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on distributed systems: operations and management, DSOM 2006, Dublin, Ireland, October 23-25, 2006, Proceedings
Presents the proceedings of the 17 IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Distributed Systems : Operations and Management (DSOM 2006), which was held rd th in Dublin, Ireland during October 23 to 25 , 2006. In line with its reputation as one of the pre-eminent fora for the discussion and debate of advances of distributed systems management, the 2006 iteration of DSOM brought together an international audience of researchers and practitioners from both industry and academia. th DSOM 2006 was the 17 in a series of annual workshops, and it followed the footsteps of highly successful previous meetings, the most recent of which were held in Barcelona, Spain (DSOM 2005), Davis, USA (DSOM 2004), Heidelberg, Germany (DSOM 2003), Montreal, Canada (DSOM 2002) and Nancy, France (DSOM 2001). The goal of the DSOM workshops is to bring together researchers in the areas of networks, systems and services management, from both industry and academia, to discuss recent advances and foster future growth in these ?elds. In contrast to the larger management symposia, such as Integrated Management (IM) and Network Operations and Management (NOMS), the DSOM workshops are organised as sing- track programmes in order to stimulate interaction among participants.
