e-Learning, e-Education, and Online Training ; 6th EAI International Conference, eLEOT 2020, Changsha, China, June 20-21, 2020, Proceedings, Part I
Constitutes the proceedings of the 6th International Conference on e-Learning, e-Education, and Online Training, eLEOT 2020, held in Changsha, China, in June 2020. The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 68 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 141 submissions. They focus on most recent and innovative trends and new technologies in for educational modernization, such as artificial intelligence and big data. The theme of eLEOT 2020 was “Education with New Generation Information Technology”.

The aim is to provide the opportunity to get in touch with the countless opportunities that new technologies offer to transform, improve and make teaching and learning more accessible, with a look at the future prospects of a sector that presents itself in constant evolution.
Elastic Multibody Dynamics : A Direct Ritz Approach
This textbook is an introduction to and exploration of a number of core topics in the field of applied mechanics: On the basis of Lagrange's Principle, a Central Equation of Dynamics is presented which yields a unified view on existing methods. From these, the Projection Equation is selected for the derivation of the motion equations of holonomic and of non-holonomic systems. The method is applied to rigid multibody systems where the rigid body is defined such that, by relaxation of the rigidity constraints, one can directly proceed to elastic bodies. A decomposition into subsystems leads to a minimal representation and to a recursive representation, respectively, of the equations of motion.

In addition, the book examines cross-country issues, concerns and prospects regarding education and skills for inclusive growth and green jobs for the four countries. The book also provides summaries of the case studies undertaken for India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Viet Nam.

The 19th Annual Meeting of the European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming—ECOOP 2005—took place during the last week of July in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. This volume includes the refereed technical papers p- sented at the conference, and two invited papers. It is traditional to preface a volume of proceedings such as this with a note that emphasizes the importance of the conference in its respective ?eld. Although such self-evaluations should always be taken with a large grain of salt, ECOOP is undisputedly the pre- inent conference on object-orientation outside of the United States. Whereas in the past people lived in a paradise of environmental superabundance, at p- sent environmental goods and services are no longer in ample supply. The en- ronment fulfills many functions for the economy: it serves as a public-c- sumption good, as a provider of natural resources, and as receptacle of waste. These different functions compete with each other. Releasing more pollutants into the environment reduces environmental quality, and a better environm- tal quality implies that the environment’s use as a receptacle of waste has to be restrained. Consequently, environmental disruption and environmental use are by nature allocation problems. This is the basic message of this book.
Econometric Analysis of Count Data
The book provides graduate students and researchers with an up-to-date survey of statistical and econometric techniques for the analysis of count data, with a focus on conditional distribution models. Proper count data probability models allow for rich inferences, both with respect to the stochastic count process that generated the data, and with respect to predicting the distribution of outcomes. The book starts with a presentation of the benchmark Poisson regression model. Alternative models address unobserved heterogeneity, state dependence, selectivity, endogeneity, underreporting, and clustered sampling. Testing and estimation is discussed from frequentist and Bayesian perspectives. Finally, applications are reviewed in fields such as economics, marketing, sociology, demography, and health sciences. The fifth edition contains several new topics, including copula functions, Poisson regression for non-counts, additional semi-parametric methods, and discrete factor models. Other sections have been reorganized, rewritten, and extended.

Earth science satellite remote sensing ; Vol.1 : Science and instruments
Satellite remote sensing for Earth science data has been rapidly expanding during the last decade. Volume 1 of this two volume monograph covers missions/sensors, such as Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS), Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), and Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU). It also discusses the NPOESS and NPP missions. Emphasis was placed on the recently launched Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board of both Terra and Aqua. Some key MODIS science team members were invited to contribute several chapters. The core of this monograph arose from the workshop for Earth Science Satellite Remote Sensing held at George Mason University (GMU) in October 2002. Both volumes are designed to give scientists and graduate students with limited remote sensing background a thorough introduction to current and future NASA, NOAA and other Earth science remote sensing missions.
Dynamics of Freezing-Thawing Soil around Subway Shield Tunnels
Addresses development laws for axial strain and excess pore water pressure in silty clay around subway shield tunnels before and after freezing-thawing when subjected to subway loading, as well as the effect of freezing-thawing on the dynamic parameters of silty clay, including the dynamic modulus and damping ratio, introducing readers to the design and construction of bypasses in subway tunnels with the artificial freezing method. On this basis, it then studies the microstructures of silty clay before and after freezing-thawing cyclic loading by means of scanning electron microscope tests and mercury intrusion porosimetry tests. Lastly, the book presents a numerical simulation of the dynamics of silty clay around subway tunnels before and after thawing.

We were fortunate to attract a terrific group of con tributors representing five countries, which resulted in an exciting confer ence and, as the reader will quickly discover, an excellent set of chapters.
