Ethics of Belief : Essays in Tribute to D.Z. Phillips
This volume is presented as a tribute to D.Z. Phillips and the introduction by Eugene Long includes a brief discussion of Phillips' life and work. The first six articles were originally written at the invitation of Phillips for a conference on the ethics of belief held at Claremont Graduate University. Essays by Allen Wood, Richard Amesbury and Van Harvey discuss the question of the ethics of belief in the context of the evidentialist principle most frequently associated with W. K. Clifford. Essays by Ronney Mourad, Jennifer Faust and Robert Audi are concerned with the voluntariness of belief, the persuasive power of arguments and differing conceptions of faith, belief and acceptance. The final two essays by John Whittaker and Anselm Min focus on Phillips' understanding of the logic and rationality of religious belief.
Ethics and Business : An Introduction
Offers a clear and accessible framework for understanding the important and complex ethical issues facing business in the contemporary world. Kevin Gibson explains ethical concepts in plain language, showing how terms such as responsibility, autonomy, justice, equality, rights, and beneficence are central to the ways in which business is and should be conducted.
Ethereum Smart Contract Development in Solidity
This book introduces readers to the Solidity language from scratch, together with case studies and examples. It also covers advanced topics and explains the working mechanism of smart contracts in depth. Further, it includes relevant examples that shed new light on the forefront of Solidity programming. In short, it equips readers with essential practical skills, allowing them to quickly catch up and start using Solidity programming.
Essentials of Excel VBA, Python, and R Vol. I : Financial statistics and portfolio analysis
Teaches statistical analyses and research methods utilizing business case studies and financial data, with the applications of Excel VBA, Python and R. Each chapter engages the reader with sample data drawn from individual stocks, stock indices, options, and futures. Now in its second edition, it has been expanded into two volumes, each of which is devoted to specific parts of the business analytics curriculum. To reflect the current age of data science and machine learning, the used applications have been updated from Minitab and SAS to Python and R.
Essential Quick Review : Operative Dentistry & Endodontics
Provides a complete outline for writing an essay type, a short answer type, or a viva voce type of questions. Written in a simple language along with well-illustrated diagrams wherever possible. Supported with a supplementary booklet for each subject containing three sections: definitions, classifications, and viva voce.
Ergativity : Emerging Issues
This volume presents a collection of papers on the enticing and complex theme of Ergativity. The papers exemplify theoretical depth applied to a wide range of languages, with the majority of papers based on original fieldwork. Ergativity refers to a grammatical pattern in which the logical subject of intransitive clauses and the logical object of transitive clauses share some grammatical features, and in this respect differ from transitive subjects. The shared features are often case and/or agreement, but a variety of other relevant features have also been isolated in the literature.
EQ-5D concepts and methods : a developmental history
The EuroQol Group is an international, cross-disciplinary group set up in 1987 to investigate issues related to the valuation of health. This book presents a series of papers from the early 1990s that illustrate the aspects of the development of EQ-5D including: the descriptive system, self-rated health, valuation issues, and semantic issues. Enterprise interoperability : New challenges and approaches
Interoperability: the ability of a system or a product to work with other systems or products without special effort from the user is a key issue in manufacturing and industrial enterprise generally. It is fundamental to the production of goods and services quickly and at low cost at the same time as maintaining levels of quality and customisation. Interoperability is achieved if internal and external collaborators can interact on at least three levels: data, applications and business enterprise (through the architecture of an enterprise model and making allowance for the semantics of both partners). Not only a problem of software and IT technologies, it implies support for communication and transactions between different organisations that must be based on shared business references. Today, a new and important consideration must be taken into account – economic business evaluation and the definition of dissemination policy.
Enterprise Information Systems VI
This book contains the best papers of the Sixth International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS 2004), held in Porto (Portugal) and organized by INSTICC (Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Communication and Control) in collaboration with PORTUCALENSE UNIVERSITY, who hosted the event. Following the route started in 1999, ICEIS has become a major point of contact between research scientists, engineers and practitioners on the area of business applications of information systems. This conference has received an increased interest every year, from especially from the international academic community, and it is now one of the world largest conferences in its area. This year, five simultaneous tracks were held, covering different aspects related to enterprise computing, including: “Databases and Information Systems Integration”,
Enterprise architecture at work : Modelling, communication and analysis
n enterprise architecture tries to describe and control an organisation’s structure, processes, applications, systems and techniques in an integrated way. The unambiguous specification and description of components and their relationships in such an architecture requires a coherent architecture modelling language.Since an architecture model is useful not only for providing insight into the current or future situation but can also be used to evaluate the transition from ‘as-is’ to ‘to-be’, the authors also describe analysis methods for assessing both the qualitative impact of changes to an architecture and the quantitative aspects of architectures, such as performance and cost issues. The modelling language and the other techniques presented have been proven in practice in many real-life case studies. So this book is an ideal companion for enterprise IT or business architects in industry as well as for computer or management science students studying the field of enterprise architecture.
English proofreader
Using Natural Language Processing via Deep Learning, we will attempt to implement a context-sensitive spelling error correction system focused on casual text messaging. For example, usual autocorrect systems will not correct a sentence like “An apple is better than a banana” as this is a syntactically correct sentence. However, a correction should be made here to the word “then” and the sentence should be, “An apple is better than a banana.” These types of mistakes are common in people texting and can be found for example in people learning English as a second language. Natural Language Processing can be summarized as combining the utilization of computation to understand the concepts of natural language and speech.
