High performance computing in science and engineering 06 ; Transactions of the High Performance Computing Center, Stuttgart (HLRS) 2006
In July 2005, the new building for HLRS as well as Stuttgart’s new NEC supercomputer – which is still leading edge in G- many – have been inaugurated. In these days, the SSC Karlsruhe is ?nalizing the installation of a very large high performance system complex from HP, built from hundreds of Intel Itanium processors and more than three th- sand AMD Opteron cores. Additionally, the fast network connection – with a bandwidth of 40Gbit/s and thus one of the frst installations of this kind in Germany – brings the machine rooms of HLRS and SSC Karlsruhe very close together.
High performance computing in science and engineering 05 ; Transactions of the High Performance Computing Center, Stuttgart (HLRS) 2005
This book presents the state-of-the-art in simulation on supercomputers. Leading researchers present results achieved on systems of the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) for the year 2006. The reports cover all fields of computational science and engineering ranging from CFD via computational physics and chemistry to computer science with a special emphasis on industrially relevant applications. Presenting results for both vector-systems and micro-processor based systems the book allows to compare performance levels and usability of various architectures. As HLRS operates the largest NEC SX-8 vector system in the world this book gives an excellent insight into the potential of vector systems.

HCI related papers of Interacción 2004 ; Conference proceedings
The present book contains a collection of the best papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Interacción Persona Ordenador (IPO) (which is Human Computer Interaction in Spanish), which took place in th th Lleida on May 5 -7 , 2004. . The main goals of Interacción 2004 were: To expand the conference scope with internationally recognised invited speakers. The plenary talks were presented by Alan Dix, Yvonne Rogers, Geritt van der Veer, and Angel Puerta. To open the participation to Spanish speaker worldwide in order to be a point of reference of this discipline not only in Spain but also in the wider Spanish speaking community. This goal was reached through a very diverse program which included panels and posters sessions, where many different aspect of the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) were presented. All through the program, research from outside Spain was reflected through the contributions from people of other countries.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th Usability Symposium of the Human-Computer Interaction and Usability Engineering Workgroup of the Austrian Computer Society, USAB 2008, held in Graz, Austria, in November 2008.The 7 revised full papers and 26 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 85 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on cognitive processes and end user experience, social software and collaborative knowledge development, knowledge processing, assessment and human performance.
Funology : From usability to enjoyment
This book reflects the move in Human Computer Interaction studies from standard usability concerns towards a wider set of problems to do with fun, enjoyment, aesthetics and the experience of use. Traditionally HCI has been concerned with work and task based applications but as digital technologies proliferate in the home fun becomes an important issue. There is an established body of knowledge and a range of techniques and methods for making products and interfaces usable, but far less is known about how to make them enjoyable.
Fun and Games ; 2nd International conference, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, October 20-21, 2008. Proceedings
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Fun and Games, held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in October 2008.The 17 revised full papers, presented together with 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 36 submissions. The papers encompass the study of computer games, game development and experiences by researchers from social sciences, computing, electrical engineering, design, etc. Main focus is given to topics such as tightly-coupled embodied control of movement-sensitive mobile devices, hypercomputation and cultural computing, emerging gaming paradigms.
Foundations of Microsoft® Expression Web : The Basics and Beyond
Expression Web, one of the excellent programs within the suite, is a powerful web site creation tool that allows you to rapidly build up standards-compliant web pages, style them with CSS, add dynamic ASP.NET functionality to them, and publish them to the weball from the comfort of one program, and "Foundations of Microsoft Expression Web: The Basics and Beyond" is one of the first books available on the program.
Foundation PHP for Dreamweaver 8
In this book, we look specifically at using Dreamweaver's built-in server behaviors to build dynamic web sites using PHP and MySQL, the world's most popular open source server-side language and database server combination, which are both reliable, powerful, and open source (and therefore free to use). This version of Dreamweaver includes more powerful support for PHP and MySQL than ever before, and we'll show you how to make this work for you. No previous experience of PHP or MySQL is necessary to use this book. Examples built throughout the book include a content management system, and an online image gallery. All examples are designed to meet modern usability requirements and be web standards-compliant.

Distributed systems : Concurrency and consistency
Explores the gray area of distributed systems and draws a map of weak consistency criteria, identifying several families and demonstrating how these may be implemented into a programming language. Unlike their sequential counterparts, distributed systems are much more difficult to design, and are therefore prone to problems. On a large scale, usability reminiscent of sequential consistency, which would provide the same global view to all users, is very expensive or impossible to achieve.
