Protocols for High Speed Networks ; 7th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop, PfHSN 2002, Berlin, Germany, April 22-24, 2002. Proceedings

This workshop on “Protocols for High-Speed Networks” is the seventh in a s- cessful series of international workshops, well known for their small and focused target audience, that provide a sound basis for intensive discussions of hi- qualityand timelyresearch work. PfHSN is a workshop providing an international forum that focuses on issues related to high-speed networking, such as protocols, implementation techniques, router design, network processors and the like. Although the topics have shifted during the last couple of years, for example, from parallel protocol implemen- tions to network processors, it could be observed that high speed remains a very important issue with respect to future networking.

Pro TBB : C++ Parallel Programming with Threading Building Blocks

This book is a modern guide for all C++ programmers to learn Intel Threading Building Blocks (TBB).this book reflects their collective decades of experience in developing and teaching parallel programming with TBB, offering their insights in an approachable manner. Throughout the book the authors present numerous examples and best practices to help you become an effective TBB programmer and leverage the power of parallel systems. It starts with the basics, explaining parallel algorithms and C++'s built-in standard template library for parallelism. You'll learn the key concepts of managing memory, working with data structures and how to handle typical issues with synchronization. Later chapters apply these ideas to complex systems to explain performance tradeoffs, mapping common parallel patterns, controlling threads and overhead, and extending TBB to program heterogeneous systems or system-on-chips.

Parallel programming : Technigues and applications using networked workstations and parallel computers

Covers the techniques of parallel programming in a practical manner that enables students to write and evaluate their parallel programs. Supported by the National Science Foundation and exhaustively class-tested, it is the first text of its kind that does not require access to a special multiprocessor system, concentrating instead only on parallel programs that can be executed on networked workstations using freely available parallel software tools. The Second Edition has been revised to incorporate a greater focus on cluster programming as this type of programming has become more widespread with the availability of low-cost computers.

Parallel programming : for multicore and cluster systems ; 3rd ed.

Covers the new development in processor architecture and parallel hardware. It provides detailed descriptions of parallel programming techniques that are necessary for developing efficient programs for multicore processors as well as for parallel cluster systems and supercomputers. The book is structured in three main parts, covering all areas of parallel computing: the architecture of parallel systems, parallel programming models and environments, and the implementation of efficient application algorithms. The emphasis lies on parallel programming techniques needed for different architectures. In particular, this third edition includes an extended update of the chapter on computer architecture and performance analysis taking new developments such as the aspect of energy consumption into consideration.

We received 255 paper submissions this year. After an extensive peer review process involving more than 1000 reviews, the programme committee selected the top 106 papers for inclusion in this volume and, of course, for presentation at the conference. This represents an acceptance rate of 42%. The papers included in this volume cover a wide range of topics, from e- lutionary computation to swarm intelligence and from bio-inspired computing to real-world applications. They represent some of the latest and best research in evolutionary and natural computation. Following the PPSN tradition, all - pers at PPSN IX were presented as posters. There were 7 sessions: each session consisting of around 15 papers. For each session, we covered as wide a range of topics as possible so that participants with di?erent interests could ?nd some relevant papers in every session.
