Information and communication technologies in tourism 2006 ; Proceedings of the International Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, 2006
This collection of papers presented at the 13th ENTER Conference represents a unique opportunity of sharing knowledge with researchers bridging the fields of travel and tourism, and information and communication technologies. Increasing the security and reliability of e-health system using blockchain technology
The Blockchain technology is the buzzword of the year, and as this new technology slowly matured, it seems clear that from banking to supply chain logistics, it is ready for disruption. And in healthcare in particular, there is a massive opportunity for blockchain revolution to disrupt and lead the digital transformation. From medical records to pharmaceutical supply chains, to smart contracts for payment distribution, there are a plenty of methods to leverage this technology. Thus it has reached a great boom in the health sector, due to its importance to overcome interoperability and security challenges of health records systems in e-health.
Impact of Pollution on Animal Products
The present workshop contributed highly to the exchange between scientists giving the opportunity for researchers from Central Asia to access to new scientific approaches and methodologies, and for European scientists to assess the extent of the environmental problems in this part of the world. No doubt that these exchanges were the main success of the workshop marked by very stimulating discussions. Such meeting was also the opportunity to put on the first stone of a scientific network focused on the subject of the workshop. The importance of pollution in Central Asia in general and in Kazakhstan in p- ticular is a well-known feature and several references are available on the source and localization of pollution problems in those countries. The references are also abundant on the impact of the environmental failures on human health.
Images, Representations and Heritage : Moving beyond Modern Approaches to Archaeology
Recent archaeological theory has show that images of the past have carried a particularly strong resonance within modern social groups. This volume explores the immeasurable impact that the phenomenon of archaeology has had on the representation of the past in the modern world. Modern society’s ‘archaeological imagination’ conceives of archaeology as a producer of images of the past which become representations of modern group identities. If archaeology is utilized by public groups to construct and represent identities, then what are archaeologists to do with that public? The very fact that the public is interested in the past and in archaeological research is an opportunity for archaeology to engage that public.

I would like to take this opportunity to put forward my current views about logic in computer science, computational linguistics and arti?cial intelligence. In the early 1980s the perception of the role of logic in computer science was that of a speci?cation and reasoning tool and that of a basis for possibly neat computer languages. The computer scientist was manipulating data structures and the use of logic was one of his options.

Global Product : Strategy, Product Lifecycle Management and the Billion Customer Question
In the early years of the 21st Century, as a result of many changes, it has become possible for the first time for tens of thousands of companies to offer manufactured products to customers across six continents. For many of these "global products", there are potentially more than a billion customers. In 2007, Wall Street hit new highs as the enormous opportunity for increased sales and profits became clear. However the new environment is not easy to manage and the risks are high. Meeting the various requirements of customers from a range of countries, choosing the most suitable locations for the different stages of development and manufacturing, deciding what can be global and what must be local, implementing suitable processes and systems, accommodating different national regulations, and efficiently dividing the workload between diverse sites are among the many challenges faced by providers of global products.
Geo-information for Disaster Management
Geo-information technology offers an opportunity to support disaster management: industrial accidents, road collisions, complex emergencies, earthquakes, fires, floods and similar catastrophes (for example the recent huge disaster with the Tsunami in South-East Asia on 26 December 2004). Access to needed information, facilitation of the interoperability of emergency services, and provision of high-quality care to the public are a number of the key requirements. The book provides a broad overview of the (geo-information) technology, software, systems needed, used and to be developed for disaster management. The book provokes a wide discussion on systems and requirements for use of geo-information under time and stress constraints and unfamiliar situations, environments and circumstances.
Generalized collocations methods : Solutions to nonlinear problems
This book examines various mathematical tools—based on generalized collocation methods—to solve nonlinear problems related to partial differential and integro-differential equations. Covered are specific problems and models related to vehicular traffic flow, population dynamics, wave phenomena, heat convection and diffusion, transport phenomena, and pollution. Based on a unified approach combining modeling, mathematical methods, and scientific computation, each chapter begins with several examples and problems solved by computational methods; full details of the solution techniques used are given. Games and Simulations in Teacher Education
