E-Merging Media: Communication and the Media Economy of the Future
After the very successful ECC-Book on "E-conomy" this new report of the European Communication Council (ECC) analyzes from various perspectives the profound societal and economical change of the media economy, initiated by digitalization and networking. Against the background of the current media history, it highlights for example the role of the Internet hype as a pathfinder in a modified media society. The key question is concerned with how the medial future will be like. The report examines effects and new perspectives in the area of economy, society, and politics. The aspects of behavior, business models, legal and regulation questions, self-conception of society and media economy are mooted by international authors to enhance the reader's understanding of the medial future and to disclose options for action.

The approach in this book is less formal than traditional Theoretical Physics Foundations courses. The goal is still to achieve a genuine understanding of physical concepts and the ability to independently solve problems. The style is conversational, with abundant examples, and the presentation of all important steps is detailed, answering all the questions students typically ask in advance. The author has given space to recent and interesting developments, such as the scanning tunneling microscope and quantum cryptography. He has always sought to explain the rationale behind mathematical manipulations and the physical meaning of all measurable quantities. Above all, he has emphasized the aspects that make Theoretical Physics a science full of practical implications and a particularly fascinating intellectual adventure.

L'analisi statistica dei dati sperimentali, la loro elaborazione ed una corretta stima degli errori sono conoscenze necessarie agli studenti di fisica, biologia, chimica, ingegneria e dei corsi di specializzazione tecnico-scientifici in cui è richiesta pratica di laboratorio. Chi si occupa di problemi tecnici e di misure, per studio o per lavoro, deve possedere gli strumenti matematici di calcolo e di analisi necessari ad una corretta interpretazione dei dati sperimentali. Il testo fornisce in modo sintetico, chiaro ed esaustivo, tutte le nozioni e le conoscenze utili allo scopo. Gli argomenti sono esposti in modo rigoroso ma fluido e vengono introdotti con gradualità. Sono riportati i teoremi e le formule essenziali per una completa comprensione evitando, tuttavia, eccessivi appesantimenti matematici. Il libro è stato pensato per consentire ai docenti di scegliere autonomamente gli esperimenti per l'applicazione delle nozioni studiate.

Classical multiple-view geometry studies the reconstruction of a static scene - served by a rigidly moving camera. However, in many real-world applications the scene may undergo much more complex dynamical changes. For instance, the scene may consist of multiple moving objects (e.g., a trafic scene) or arti- lated motions (e.g., a walking human) or even non-rigid dynamics (e.g., smoke, fire, or a waterfall). In addition, some applications may require interaction with the scene through a dynamical system (e.g., vision-guided robot navigation and coordination). To study the problem of reconstructing dynamical scenes, many new al- braic, geometric, statistical, and computational tools have recently emerged in computer vision, computer graphics, image processing, and vision-based c- trol.
Distinguished Figures in Mechanism and Machine Science
This is the first volume of a series of edited books whose aim is to collect contributed papers in a framework that can serve as a dictionary of names of individuals who have made contributions to the discipline of MMS (Me- anism and Machine Science). This dictionary project has the peculiarity that, through descriptions of the ideas and work of these individuals, the papers will illustrate mainly technical developments in the historical evolution of the individual fields that today de?ne the scope of MMS. Thus the core of each contribution will be a survey of biographical notes describing the efforts and experiences of these people. Crime and safety in the rural : Lessons from research
This book highlights 20 reasons why crime and safety in rural areas is a topic of relevance. We attempt to untangle currently simplistic views of the rural by discussing a number of facets of the countryside as both safe and criminogenic, and more importantly, a hybrid place worth to be examined in its own right. We adopt the notion of a rural-urban continuum that captures the nuances of places of varied nature, spanning from remote and desolate spaces to accessible and connected environments of the urban fringe. Areas on the rural-urban continuum may be in constant transformation given local and global influences, which imposes challenges for policing and long-term social sustainability.
Control of Interactive Robotic Interfaces : A Port-Hamiltonian Approach
This monograph deals with energy based control of interactive robotic interfaces and the port-Hamiltonian framework is exploited both for modeling and controlling interactive robotic interfaces. Using the port-Hamiltonian framework, it is possible to identify the energetic properties that have to be controlled in order to achieve a desired interactive behavior and it is possible to build a port-Hamiltonian controller that properly regulates the robotic interface by shaping its energetic properties.

We received 38 full-length paper submissions to the second Computer Vision Approaches to Medical Image Analysis (CVAMIA) Workshop, out of which 10 were accepted for oral and 11 for poster presentation after a rigorous peer-review process. In addition, the workshop included three invited talks.
