Fuzzy Implications (FIs) generalize the classical implication and play a similar important role in Fuzzy Logic (FL), both in FL_n and FL_w in the sense of Zadeh. Their importance in applications of FL, viz., Approximate Reasoning (AR), Decision Support Systems, Fuzzy Control (FC), etc., is hard to exaggerate. In this monograph, the authors try to apply artificial neural networks (ANNs) to exchange rates forecasting. Selection of the ANN approach for - change rates forecasting is because of ANNs’ unique features and powerful pattern recognition capability. Unlike most of the traditional model-based forecasting techniques, ANNs are a class of data-driven, self-adaptive, and nonlinear methods that do not require specific assumptions on the und- lying data generating process. These features are particularly appealing for practical forecasting situations where data are abundant or easily available, even though the theoretical model or the underlying relationship is - known. Furthermore, ANNs have been successfully applied to a wide range of forecasting problems in almost all areas of business, industry and engineering.

Famine Early Warning Systems and Remote Sensing Data
This book describes the interdisciplinary work of USAID’s Famine Early Warning System Network (FEWS NET) and its in uence on how food security crises are identi ed, documented and the kind of responses that result. Event-Driven Mobile Financial Information Services : Design of an Intraday Decision Support System
In recent years, mobile applications and technologies have become valuable for many companies and their customers. This ongoing trend has affected both businesses and everyday life.Jan Muntermann presents an intraday event study that is conducted within the German capital market, and provides evidence that investors could exploit intraday stock price effects following critical market events. He then develops the concept for a corresponding mobile decision support system that assists investors in identifying those events.
