This book presents recent advances in the pure sciences that are of significance in the quest for alternatives to the use of animals in research and describes a variety of practical applications of the three key guiding principles for the more ethical use of animals in experiments – replacement, reduction, and refinement, collectively known as the 3Rs. Important examples from across the world of implementation of the 3Rs in the testing of cosmetics, chemicals, pesticides, and biologics, including vaccines, are described, with additional information on relevant regulations. The coverage also encompasses emerging approaches to alternative tests and the 3Rs.

Altering nature ; Vol.2 : Religion, Biotechnology, and Public Policy

The two volumes of Altering Nature consider the complex ways that concepts of 'nature' and 'the natural' are understood and the relevance of those understandings to discussions of biotechnology.Volume Two, Religion, Biotechnology, and Public Policy, reviews recent religious and ethical analyses of four specific areas of biotechnology: assisted reproduction, genetic therapy and enhancement, human-machine incorporation, and biodiversity. It identifies and explores the richer normative themes that inform particular debates and suggests ways that policy choices in biotechnology may be illuminated by devoting greater attention to religious perspectives.

Algorithmes dapproximation

Presents the development of “DesignMate”, an innovative AI home decorator application designed to revolutionize interior design. With three main features powered by artificial intelligence, DesignMate simplifies and enhances the process of home decoration. The first feature leverages an Autoregressive transformer model trained on the extensive 3Dfront dataset to suggest room decor based on room layouts. The second feature employs Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to enhance the colors of specific room layouts. The third feature introduces an expert system that tailors decor options to user-entered conditions. DesignMate also introduces an integrated e-commerce platform dedicated to furniture, offering users a wide selection of high-quality items that perfectly complement their preferred room designs.

Agent Intelligence Through Data Mining

AGENT INTELLIGENCE THROUGH DATA MINING offers a self-contained overview of a relatively young but important area of research: the intersection of agent technology and data mining. This intersection leads to considerable advancements in the area of information technologies, drawing the increasing attention of both research and industrial communities. It can take two forms: a) the more mundane use of intelligent agents for improved data mining and; b) the use of data mining for smarter, more efficient agents. The second approach is the main focus of this volume. this book presents a methodology for developing multi-agent systems, describes available open-source tools to support this process, and demonstrates the application of the methodology on three different cases. AGENT INTELLIGENCE THROUGH DATA MINING is designed for a professional audience composed of researchers and practitioners in industry.

Aesthetic Surgery of the Abdominal Wall

We have come a long way since the days when abdominal wall contouring was p- formed by simple dermolipectomies, with no attention to diastasis correction and muscular reinforcement, and little regard for the final aesthetic result. Nowadays, an abdominoplasty may be indicated for even the most demanding of patients. Details such as placement of the incision and umbilicoplasty are meticulously planned so as to conceal undesirable scars. Since the advent of suction-assisted lipectomy, in as- ciation with a classical operation or as an isolated procedure, the plastic surgeon has become capable of remodeling the entire trunk, assuring removal of considerable amounts of adipose tissue.
