Advances in Molecular Oncology
Proceedings of the 2nd Annual IFOM-IEO Meeting on Cancer. This is a new meeting, it has about 200 attendees from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA. The 2nd IFOM-IEO international meeting on cancer will provide a forum in which the world’s leading cancer researchers and young scientists will discuss the latest advances in molecular oncology. The impact of recent breakthroughs in basic research and of emerging technologies on molecular medicine in cancer will be highlighted.

The automatic analysis of images and signals in medicine, biotechnology, and chemistry is a challenging and demanding field. Signal-producing procedures by microscopes, spectrometers, and other sensors have found their way into wide fields of medicine, biotechnology, economy, and environmental analysis. With this arises the problem of the automatic mass analysis of signal information. Signal-interpreting systems which generate automatically the desired target statements from the signals are therefore of compelling necessity. The continuation of mass analyses on the basis of classical procedures leads to investments of proportions that are not feasible. New procedures and system architectures are therefore required. The goals of this: Provide a forum for identifying important contributions and opportunities for research on mass data analysis on microscopic images Promote the systematic study of how to apply automatic image analysis and interpretation procedures to that field Show case applications of mass data analysis in biology, medicine, and chemistry Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): Techniques and developments of signal and image producing procedures Object matching and object tracking in microscopic and video microscopic images 1D, 2D, and 3D shape analysis and description

Advances in Human-Robot Interaction
The book addresses key issues of human-robot interaction concerned with perception, modelling, control, planning and cognition, covering a wide spectrum of applications. Advances in Design and Specification Languages for Embedded Systems is the latest contribution to the Chip Design Languages series and it consists of selected papers presented at the Forum on Specifications and Design Languages (FDL'06), which took place in September 2006 at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. FDL, an ECSI conference, is the premier European forum to present research results, to exchange experiences, and to learn about new trends in the application of specification and design languages as well as of associated design and modelling methods and tools for integrated circuits, embedded systems, and heterogeneous systems. Modelling and specification concepts push the development of new methodologies for design and verification to system level, they thus provide the means for a model-driven design of complex information processing systems in a variety of application domains.

The Industrial Conference on Data Mining ICDM-Leipzig was the sixth event in a series of annual events which started in 2000. We are pleased to note that the topic data mining with special emphasis on real-world applications has been adopted by so many researchers all over the world into their research work. We received 156 papers from 19 different countries. The main topics are data mining in medicine and marketing, web mining, mining of images and signals, theoretical aspects of data mining, and aspects of data mining that bundle a series of different data mining applications such as intrusion detection, knowledge management, manufacturing process control, time-series mining and criminal investigations. The Program Committee worked hard in order to select the best papers.

Constitutes the proceedings of the Industrial Conference on Data Mining ICDM-Leipzig was the fourth meeting in a series of annual events which started in 2000, organized by the Institute of Computer Vision and Applied Computer Sciences (IBaI) in Leipzig. The mission of the conference is to bring together researchers and people from industry in order to discuss together new trends and applications in data mining. This year a broad spectrum of work of different applications was presented ranging from image mining, medicine and biotechnology, management and environmental control, to telecommunications. Besides that an industrial exhibition showed the successful application of data mining methods by industries in different areas such as medical devices, mass data management systems, data mining tools, etc. During the discussion many projects were inspired leading to new and joint work. The fruitful discussions, the exchange of ideas and the spirit of the conference made it a remarkable event for both sides, industry and research.
Advances in Data Mining : Applications in E-Commerce, Medicine, and Knowledge Management
Presents papers describing selected projects on the topic of data mining in fields like e commerce, medicine, and knowledge management. The objective is to report on current results and at the same time to give a review on the present activities in this field in Germany. An effort has been made to include the latest scientific results, as well as lead the reader to the various fields of activity and the problems related to them. Knowledge discovery on the basis of web data is a wide and fast growing area. E commerce is the principal theme of motivation in this field, as companies invest large sums in the electronic market, in order to maximize their profits and minimize their risks. Other applications are telelearning, teleteaching, service support, and citizen information systems. Concerning these applications, there is a great need to understand and support the user by means of recommendation systems, adaptive information systems, as well as by personalization.

This volume comprises the proceedings of the 4th Conference on Advanced En-cryption Standard, ‘AES — State of the Crypto Analysis,’ which was held inBonn, Germany, 2004.The conference followed a series of events organized by the US National In-stitute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in order to hold an internationalcompetition to decide on an algorithm to serve as the Advanced EncryptionStandard (AES). In 1998, at the first AES conference (AES 1), 15 different algo-rithms were presented, discussed, reviewed and verified. After a further conferencedevoted to verification, testing and examination of the candidate algorithms inorder to prove their performance and security, one winning algorithm remained.The encryption scheme Rijndael, designed by the Belgian cryptographers JoanDaemen and Vincent Rijmen, was selected in 2000 to become the successor tothe famous DES (Data Encryption Standard) and it is now the Advanced En-cryption Standard.

Since then ACIVS has been developed as an independent scientific event and has maintained the tradition of being a single track event with oral presentations of 25 minutes each, even though the number of participants has been steadily growing every year. The conference currently attracts computer scientists from more than 20 countries, mostly from Europe, Australia and Japan, but also from the USA, Asia and the Middle East.

We received more than 170 papers for the conference submitted by authors from the following 25 countries: Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Norway,Poland, Spain, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Turkey, UK, USA and Venezuela. Each paper was assignedto three members of the Technical Program Committee (TPC).
