This book discusses the emerging patterns of sedentary migration versus mobility of the highly-skilled thereby providing a comprehensive overview of the recent literature on highly-skilled migration. Highly-skilled migrations are arguably the only non-controversial migrant category in political and public discourse.
High-Latitude Bioerosion : The Kosterfjord Experiment
Bioerosion is the major force driving the degradation of marine skeletal carbonates and limestone coasts. A wide spectrum of mechanical and/or chemical boring, scraping or crushing organisms break down calcereous substrates, comprising various grazers, macroborers and especially microborers. Their traces on and within hard substrates are known from fossil carbonates as old as the Precambrian and serve as valuable palaeoenvironmental indicators. Bioerosion processes have been extensively studied in tropical seas, while corrsponding investigations from cold-temperate to polar settings remain sparse. For the first time, an experimental study yields insight into the pace of carbonate degradation and the chronology of boring community development along a bathymetric gradient in a high-latitude setting.

Hierarchical Matrices : A Means to Efficiently Solve Elliptic Boundary Value Problems
Hierarchical matrices are an efficient framework for large-scale fully populated matrices arising, e.g., from the finite element discretization of solution operators of elliptic boundary value problems. In addition to storing such matrices, approximations of the usual matrix operations can be computed with logarithmic-linear complexity, which can be exploited to setup approximate preconditioners in an efficient and convenient way. Besides the algorithmic aspects of hierarchical matrices, the main aim of this book is to present their theoretical background. The book contains the existing approximation theory for elliptic problems including partial differential operators with nonsmooth coefficients.
Hierarchical Bayesian Optimization Algorithm : Toward a New Generation of Evolutionary Algorithms
This book provides a framework for the design of competent optimization techniques by combining advanced evolutionary algorithms with state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. The book focuses on two algorithms that replace traditional variation operators of evolutionary algorithms by learning and sampling Bayesian networks: the Bayesian optimization algorithm (BOA) and the hierarchical BOA (hBOA). BOA and hBOA are theoretically and empirically shown to provide robust and scalable solution for broad classes of nearly decomposable and hierarchical problems. A theoretical model is developed that estimates the scalability and adequate parameter settings for BOA and hBOA. The performance of BOA and hBOA is analyzed on a number of artificial problems of bounded difficulty designed to test BOA and hBOA on the boundary of their design envelope.

Our project aims to aid deaf-mute people by tracking hand movements of the deaf-mute person for word level American Sign Language using WLASL model that include 2D CNN -3D CNN and RNN networks training on WLASL large video dataset, then generating the corresponding text and analyzing the person's facial gestures to generate information related to the tone of voice that is most appropriate to the person's age, gender, and race through MTCNN network algorithm that training on generated dataset by us depending on blending VOXCELEB dataset and VGGFACE dataset .
Healthy Longevity in China : Demographic, Socioeconomic, and Psychological Dimensions
China is aging at an extraordinary speed and has the largest quantity of elderly persons in the world. Scholars utilize this unprecedented living experience of human being and the unique Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) datasets with the aim to answer in this volume the following questions critical to the aging population world wide. Is the period of disability compressing or expanding with increasing life expectancy and what factors are associated with these trends in the recent decades?
