Drug repurposing and computational drug discovery strategies and advances
Defined as identifying new pharmacological indications from old, existing, failed, investigational, already marketed, or FDA-approved drugs and prodrugs, and applying these new uses in the treatment of diseases other than the drug’s original intended therapeutic use. The application of computational techniques in discovery research not only helps in the development of drugs from leads or existing drug molecules but can also be useful for the repurposing of existing drug candidates.
Drug repurposing : A new fashion for a new hope
The repurposing of drugs is becoming increasingly attractive as it avoids the long process and cost implications associated with bringing a novel drug to market i.e., drug repurposing is cost effective and time saving. This study will discuss the repositioning of several drugs that belong to different pharmaceutical classifications such as antimicrobials (itraconazole and fluoroquinolones), anti-diabetic agents (metformin and sodium glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors), cardiovascular drugs (β-blockers and digoxin), anticonvulsants (topiramate), immunosuppressants (sirolimus), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs e.g., COX inhibitors), and cholesterol lowering drugs (statins).

Dinaric Perspectives on TIMSS 2019 : Teaching and Learning Mathematics and Science in South-Eastern Europe
This book brings together national experts from across the Dinaric region to rigorously review IEA’s Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2019 grade four data to develop a multidimensional and culturally sensitive perspective on their TIMSS 2019 primary-level results. The Dinaric region, named after the Dinaric Alps, is located in South-eastern Europe, and stretches through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo[1], Albania, and North Macedonia. IEA’s TIMSS has been an invaluable resource for monitoring international trends in mathematics and science achievement at grades four and eight since 1995. The TIMSS 2019 administration of the test to grade four students, provided a unique opportunity for analysis within shared regional settings and enabled the construction of this first report based on international study results from the region, prepared by the National Research Coordinators in collaboration with IEA.

Drawing together the various dimensions of sustainability – economic, social, transport, energy and ecological – the book examines their relationships both to each other and to urban form. The book investigates the sustainability dimensions of cities through a series of projects based on a common list of elements of urban form, and which draw on the consortium’s latest research to review the sustainability issues of each dimension. The elements of urban form include density, land use, location, accessibility, transport infrastructure and characteristics of the built environment.

Determinants of audit fees : Evidence from Syria
Examines different factors that determine the value of audit fees in Syria. We test the impact of many factors related to audit firm as (audit report type, auditor type, audit firm market share and audit firm rotation) and factors related to client of audit firm (type, size, age and profitability) on the amounts of audit fees. To achieve that goal, the study depends on a practical study ; by extracting an actual data of the 24 companies listed at Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE) for the years 2016-2022. The extracted data were then analyzed by SPSS using descriptive statistics, simple linear regression test, and ANOVA test to examine the research hypothesis.
