Extreme Nonlinear Optics : An Introduction
Following the birth of the laser in 1960, the field of "nonlinear optics" rapidly emerged. Today, laser intensities and pulse durations are readily available, for which the concepts and approximations of traditional nonlinear optics no longer apply. In this regime of "extreme nonlinear optics," a large variety of novel and unusual effects arise, for example frequency doubling in inversion symmetric materials or high-harmonic generation in gases, which can lead to attosecond electromagnetic pulses or pulse trains. Other examples of "extreme nonlinear optics" cover diverse areas such as solid-state physics, atomic physics, relativistic free electrons in a vacuum and even the vacuum itself. This book starts with an introduction to the field based primarily on extensions of two famous textbook examples, namely the Lorentz oscillator model and the Drude model. Here the level of sophistication should be accessible to any undergraduate physics student. Many graphical illustrations and examples are given. The following chapters gradually guide the student towards the current "state of the art" and provide a comprehensive overview of the field. Every chapter is accompanied by exercises to deepen the reader's understanding of important topics, with detailed solutions at the end of the book.

While the basic operating principles of Helical Magnetic Flux Compression Generators are easy to understand, the details of their construction and performance limits have been described only in government reports, many of them classified. Conferences in the field of flux compression are also dominated by contributions from government (US and foreign) laboratories. And the government-sponsored research has usually been concerned with very large generators with explosive charges that require elaborate facilities and safety arrangements. This book emphasizes research into small generators (less than 500 grams of high explosives) and explains in detail the physical fundamentals, construction details, and parameter-variation effects related to them.
Evidence Use in Health Policy Making : An International Public Policy Perspective
Provides a set of conceptual, empirical, and comparative chapters that apply a public policy perspective to investigate the political and institutional factors driving the use of evidence to inform health policy in low, middle, and high income settings. Ethics Dumping : Case Studies from North-South Research Collaborations

Estrogen Effects in Psychiatric Disorders
A number of studies, mostly focusing on estrogen replacement therapy in women, have reported beneficial actions of these hormones on various neurobiological and neuropathological parameters in health and disease. Recent research has focused on gender differences and there is increasing evidence that estrogens exert protective effects in schizophrenia. Hormonal fluctuations or lack of estrogen may increase the risk of depression among vulnerable women. Treatment of depression with estrogen may stabilize and restore disrupted homeostasis – as during post-partum, premenstrual, or perimenopausal conditions – and act as a psychomodulator to offset vulnerability to dysphoric mood when estrogen levels are significantly decreased, as in the case of postmenopausal women. Studies on the effect of estrogens on Alzheimer’s Disease are still rather controversial, they do, however, facilitate the hypothesis that estrogens may have a modifying effect on the onset and course of AD, at least in subgroups of patients.

يهدف المشروع إلى تصميم وإنشاء نادٍ متكامل للفروسية يُعنى برعاية الخيول وتدريبها وفق أعلى المعايير الحديثة. يوفر النادي بيئة مناسبة لمحبَي رياضة الفروسية، حيث يجمع بين الجانب الرياضي والترفيهي والتعليمي. يتضمن المشروع دراسة متكاملة لتخطيط المساحات، تصميم الإسطبلات، الميادين التدريبية، مرافق الرعاية البيطرية، والمناطق الخصصة للزوار. كما يهدف إلى تعزيز ثقافة الفروسية في المجتمع، والمحافظة على الخيل العربي الأصيل، وتوفير تجربة آمنة وممتعة للمشتركين والزوار. يعتمد المشروع على معايير الاستدامة في التصميم والمواد المستخدمة بما يحقق التوازن بين الجمال والوظيفة. تمت دراسة احتياجات الخيول من حيث التغدية، الإيواء، والنظافة بما يضمن سلامتها وصحتها الجسدية والنفسية، مع تخصيص مرافق بيطرية مجهزة بأحدث الأدوات لخدمتها على مدار الساعة. كما تم الآخد بعين الاعتبار تطبيق معايير الأمان للخيول والفرسان على حدٍ سواء. ويعد المشروع نموذجاً متكاملاً يجمع بين الجمال المعماري والوظائف العملية، مسهماً في دعم السياحة الداخلية وتطوير البيئة التحتية الرياضية في المنطقة، إضافةً إلى خلق فرص تدريب وتشغيل ضمن قطاع الفروسية في المجتمع المحلي.

As urban areas keep growing, water infrastructure ages, and the requirements on environmental protection become more rigorous, there is a continual need for upgrading water pollution control facilities and restoring degraded urban waters.
