Advances in Intelligent Data Analysis VII ; 7th International Symposium on Intelligent Data Analysis, IDA 2007, Ljubljana, Slovenia, September 6-8, 2007, Proceedings
There su- ing oral presentations were then scheduled in a single-track, two-and-a-half-day conference program, summarized in the book that you have before you. In accordance with the stated IDA goal of "bringing together researchers from diverse disciplines," we believe we have achieved an excellent balance of presentationsfromthemoretheoretical-both statistical and machine learning- to the more application-oriented areas that illustrate how these techniques can beusedinpractice. Forexample, the proceeding sinclude papers withth eoretical contributions dealing with statistical approaches to sequence alignment as well as papers addressing practical problems in the areas of text classification and medical data analysis. It is reassuring to see that IDA continues to bring such diverse areas together, thus helping to cross-fertilize these fields

The Industrial Conference on Data Mining ICDM-Leipzig was the sixth event in a series of annual events which started in 2000. We are pleased to note that the topic data mining with special emphasis on real-world applications has been adopted by so many researchers all over the world into their research work. We received 156 papers from 19 different countries. The main topics are data mining in medicine and marketing, web mining, mining of images and signals, theoretical aspects of data mining, and aspects of data mining that bundle a series of different data mining applications such as intrusion detection, knowledge management, manufacturing process control, time-series mining and criminal investigations. The Program Committee worked hard in order to select the best papers.

Advanced Information Systems Engineering ; 19th International Conference, CAiSE 2007, Trondheim, Norway, June 11-15, 2007, Proceedings
CAiSE 2007 was the 19th in the series of International Conferences on Advanced Information Systems Engineering. This year’s conference was located in Trondheim and hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, with the aim of bringing together practitioners and researchers in the field of information systems engineering. The CAiSE series thereby returned to the city where the third CAiSE conference was held in 1991.The special theme of CAiSE 2007 was “Ubiquitous Information Systems Engineering,” reflecting that modern information systems often span activities performed in several organizations and at different geographical locations.
