Architecture - Admission Policy

Admission and Registration Policy

The Faculty of Architecture at Arab International Private University (AIU), admits the following applicants:

  • Holders of a Syrian Secondary School Certificate (Scientific branch - Baccalaureate):
    Applicants holding a non-Syrian Baccalaureate equivalent to that of a Syrian Scientific branch – Baccalaureate, may enroll in the faculty according the Ministry of Higher Education in Syria. However, non-Syrian certificate holders must obtain a certain percentage grade set by the Ministry of Higher Education for enrollment, and a 60% grade average for holders of a Syrian Scientific branch – Baccalaureate.
    All applicants must undergo an Architecture aptitude examination to test their drawing skills and determine whether or not they can proceed in their architecture studies.
    The faculty of Architecture may raise the required acceptance level as it sees fit, it also has the authority to request additional requirements from students, such as admitting them to remedial courses or selecting individual students on differentiation base according to the admission policy of the university.
  • Students who have graduated from technical institutes:
    Students who have graduated from higher technical institutions with diplomas certified by the Ministry of Higher Education in Syria, may also apply for the Faculty of Architecture at AIU according to the Ministry. The following students may be exempted from a certain amount of credit hours (or courses), this is also according to regulations issued by the Ministry of higher Education.
  • Students who are studying at other universities:
    The faculty of Architecture accepts students who are studying at other universities and willing to transfer to the faculty according to the rules of transfer adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education in Syria. The following students may also be exempted from a certain amount of credit hours (or courses).

Admissions Testing:

Every student who intends to join the College of Architecture is subject to the college admission test.

The test aims to identify the extent of the applicant's willingness to join the College of Architecture and his possession of the skills and capabilities required for the architecture specialization, by measuring the following abilities and skills:

  1. The student's ability to draw.
  2. The student's ability to visualize shapes and drawings.
  3. The student's ability to install shapes.
  4. The student's ability to find solutions to some simple engineering problems.
