Abstract

This research study shines a light on the impact of the recent earthquake that struck Syria on the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of the business sector, NGOs, charities, and individuals. In this study, the earthquake was considered the independent variable, and CSR was the dependent variable; with the addition of two moderating variables – the location and type of organization – three hypotheses were tested. This study focused on the type of aid, logistics, challenges, and type of organization and locations of the organization. A survey instrument in the form of a questionnaire was used to collect the data needed to analyse the purpose of the research. The questionnaire was distributed to 160 charities, NGOs, individuals, and businesses. A total of 89 (eighty-nine) responses showed that the earthquake positively impacted CSR within different organizations. It also showed that the earthquake's impact on social responsibility varied from one location of an organization to another. Additionally, the results proved that the impact of the earthquake on social responsibility differed depending on the type of organization.
