Prof. Dr. Nasser Thallaj
Professor Dr. Nasser Thallaj is regarded as one of the most prominent academics and researchers in the field of organic chemistry of biologically active compounds in Syria and the region. He currently holds the position of Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Arab International University, following a distinguished scientific and professional career spanning prestigious universities and research centers in Europe and Syria.
He began his scientific career at the University of Damascus, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry and then a Higher Diploma in Applied Chemistry. He pursued his postgraduate studies in France, earning a Master’s degree in Transition Metal Chemistry, Molecular Engineering, and the Use of Homogeneous Catalysis in the Organic Synthesis of Biologically Active Compounds from the University of Louis Pasteur – Strasbourg. He then received his Doctorate in Chemical Sciences, specializing in the Organic Chemistry of Biologically Active Compounds. During his time in France, he also completed compulsory courses in teaching and learning strategies and educational management.
After his doctorate, he worked as a researcher at the Laboratory of Nanochemistry and Supramolecular Materials at the University of Notre-Dame in Belgium, focusing on drug delivery systems. He then moved to Stockholm University to work on the synthesis of biologically active sites that mimic natural enzyme sites.
