Big data analysis of nanoscience bibliometrics, patent, and funding data (2000-2019)
Presents an evaluation of nanotechnologies outputs (academic outputs and patents) and their impact from 2000-2019. The evaluation uses Elsevier’s Scopus (the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature), SciVal (a scientific research analysis platform), Funding Institutional (a funding database), and PatentSight (a patent analysis platform). It covers four key topics regarding nanoscience research, including: 1) An overview of nano-related scholarly output, 2) Nanoscience and its contribution to basic science, 3) Nanoscience and its impact on and collaboration with industry partners, and 4) Key factors that promote the development of nanoscience.

Barriers and Biases in Computer-Mediated Knowledge Communication : And How They May Be Overcome

Such scenarios will become increasingly important. But the successful use of such computer-mediated settings is not trivial. Cooperative learning and work itself requires special skills and strategies. And the technical settings with sometimes restricted, sometimes new possibilities for communication add problems on top of the cooperation itself. What are the barriers in computer-mediated communication for cooperative learning and work? Which are the most relevant biases in computer-mediated information processing? Artificial intelligence in the design process : The impact on creativity and team collaboration
Discusses how to include artificial intelligence (AI) systems in the early stages of the design process. Today designers need new tools capable of supporting them in dealing with the increasing project's complexity and empowering their performances and capabilities. AI systems appear to be powerful means to enhance designers' creativity. This assumption was tested in a workshop where sixteen participants collaborated with three AI systems throughout the creative phases of research, sketching, and color selection. Results show that designers can access a broader level of variance and inspiration while reducing the risk of fossilization by triggering lateral thinking through AI-generated data. Therefore, AI could significantly impact the creative phases of the design process if applied consciously. Being AI systems intelligent agents, the book treats the Human-AI collaboration as a collaboration between human agents, proposing a set of guidelines helpful to achieving an efficient partnership with the machine.

Machine learning and cybernetics play an important role in many modern electronic, computer and communications systems. Automated processing of information by these systems requires intelligent analysis of various types of data and optimal decision making. In recent years, we have witnessed a rapid expansion of research and development activities in machine learning and cybernetics. To provide opportunities for researchers in these areas to share their ideas and foster collaborations, the International Conference on Machines and Cybernetics (ICMLC) has been held annually since 2002. The conference series has achieved a great success in attracting a large number of paper submissions and participants and enabling fruitful exchanges among academic and industrial researchers and postgraduate students. In 2005, the conference (ICMLC 2005) received 2461 full paper submissions and the Program Committee selected 1050 of them for presentation. It is especially encouraging that the conference is attracting more and more international attention.

The main objective of the ADBIS series of conferences is to provide a forum for the dissemination of excellent researchaccomplishmentsand to promote interaction and collaboration between the Database and Information Systems research communities from Central and East European countries and the rest of the world. The ADBIS conferences provide an international platform for the presentation of research on database theory, the development of advanced DBMS technologies, and their advanced applications in particular in information s- tems.
