Dr. Ahmad Mouhsen

Dr. Ahmad Mouhsen

 

An academic professor and expert in applied electronics engineering with extensive academic and professional experience spanning over three decades. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics Engineering from Damascus University, where his dissertation focused on developing a mechanism to integrate remote engineering education laboratories with learning management systems. He also earned a Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, the rank of Consulting Engineer in Engineering Education from the Syrian Engineers Syndicate, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering.

Academically, Dr. Mohsen has served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering at the Arab International University (AIU) since 2022. He previously taught at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University (2017–2021) and at the Technical Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (2006–2022). He also contributed to teaching graduate-level courses at the Higher Institute of Regional Planning at Damascus University, including the course "Communications and Intelligent Systems." Additionally, he participated in developing curricula and lesson plans for the Applied College’s Mechatronics program and supervised the enhancement of practical courses in engineering laboratories.

Administratively, Dr. Mohsen currently holds the position of Vice Dean for Administrative and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering, Arab International University. He is also the Director General and a board member of a private industrial company. Previously, he held several administrative roles, including Assistant Director for Academic Affairs at the Technical Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Damascus University, Head of the Electronics Engineering Department at the same institute, and earlier roles as an engineer at the Center for Scientific Studies and Research.

Dr. Mohsen has made pioneering research contributions in areas such as improving remote engineering education laboratories, early detection of electromechanical faults, enhancing the reliability of engineering systems, and developing models to strengthen MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) in engineering education through virtual laboratories. He has published multiple research papers in journals affiliated with Damascus University and Al-Baath University. He has also authored specialized university textbooks, including "Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Systems," "Industrial Techniques," and "Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems."

In addition to his academic and research activities, Dr. Mohsen has participated in curriculum development committees at Damascus University and contributed to designing study plans for electronics, automation, and mechatronics departments. He has attended numerous advanced training courses in quality management, production management, curriculum development, and vocational guidance, both within Syria and internationally. These include Trainer of Trainers (TOT) courses and specialized programs under regional cooperation projects with the European Union and the German Agency for Technical Cooperation.
