Dependable Systems : Software, Computing, Networks : Research Results of the DICS Program
The present volume documents the results of a research program on Dependable Information and Communication Systems (DICS). The members of the project met in two workshops organized by the Hasler Foundation. This state-of-the-art survey contains 3 overview articles identifying major issues of dependability and presenting the latest solutions, as well as 10 carefully selected and revised papers depicting the research results originating from those workshops. The first workshop took place in Münchenwiler, Switzerland, in March 2004, and the second workshop, which marked the conclusion of the projects, in Löwenberg, Switzerland, in October 2005. The papers are organized in topical sections on surveys, dependable software, dependable computing, and dependable networks.

Deep learning and computer vision in remote sensing-I
In the last few years, huge amounts of progress have been made regarding remote sensing in the field of computer vision. This success and progress is mostly due to the effectiveness of deep learning (DL) algorithms. In addition, the remote sensing community has shifted its attention to DL, and DL algorithms have been used to achieve significant success in many image analysis tasks. However, with regard to remote sensing, a number of challenges caused by difficulties in data acquisition and annotation have not been fully solved yet. This reprint is a collection of novel developments in the field of remote sensing using computer vision, deep learning, and artificial intelligence. The articles published involve fundamental theoretical analyses as well as those demonstrating their application to real-world problems.
Computer vision in human-computer interaction ; Vol. 3766
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) lies at the crossroads of many scienti?c areas including arti?cial intelligence, computer vision, face recognition, motion tracking, etc. In order for HCI systems to interact seamlessly with people, they need to understand their environment through vision and auditory input. Mo- over, HCI systems should learn how to adaptively respond depending on the situation. The goal of this workshop was to bring together researchers from the ?eld of computer vision whose work is related to human-computer interaction. The selected articles for this workshop address a wide range of theoretical and - plication issues in human-computer interaction ranging from human-robot - teraction, gesture recognition, and body tracking, to facial features analysis and human-computer interaction systems.
Computer vision and machine learning for intelligent sensing systems
Offers a selection of high-quality research articles that tackle the major difficulties in computer vision and machine learning for intelligent sensing systems from both theoretical and practical standpoints. This publication includes intelligent sensing techniques, twelve foundational investigations into sense-making methods, and discusses particular uses of intelligent sensing systems in autonomous driving and virtual reality.

Literature-based Discovery
When Don Swanson hypothesized a connection between Raynaud’s phenomenon and dietary fish oil, the field of literature-based discovery (LBD) was born. During the subsequent two decades a steady stream of researchers have published articles about LBD and the field has made steady progress in laying foundations and creating an identity. LBD is an inherently multi-disciplinary enterprise where collaborations between the information and biomedical sciences are readily encountered. It is the hope and intention that this volume will plant a flag in the ground and inspire new researchers to the LBD challenge.
