In this work, we will attempt to automatically recognize the speaker’s accent among regional Arabic Levantine accents from different regions of Syria, i.e. Damascus (DA), Homs (HO), Daraa (DR) …. To achieve this goal, we will build an in-house Syrian speech corpus, and apply the state of the art techniques used in speaker and language identification. We will evaluate the proposed approaches on the corpus and compare the results to identify the best accent identification approach.
