D-dimer is a soluble fibrin degradation product deriving from the plasmin-mediated degradation of cross-linked fibrin. It can be considered a biomarker of activation of coagulation and fibrinolysis, and it is routinely used for ruling out venous thromboembolism (VTE).

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a marker of acute infection and inflammation. There is increasing evidence that CRP is not only a marker of inflammation, but also possess pro-inflammatory and pro-thrombotic properties.

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), a marker of inflammatory conditions, is used extensively by clinicians both in outpatient and inpatient settings.

In this study, we aim to evaluate the rate of persistent elevated D-dimer (>0,5 μg/ml) and its association with thromboembolic complications after recovery from COVID-19 in a group of outwardly healthy female students of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
