Diabetes (metabolic syndrome) is a serious and widespread metabolic syndrome characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood and thus a threat to healthy life.

It is characterized by two types: the first type (juvenile diabetes) and the second type, and treatment for both types’ aims to maintain normal levels of glucose in the blood.

Chronic high blood glucose is a major cause of many diabetes complications through cellular toxicity resulting from oxidative stress from glucose.

Many plant compounds have shown tremendous capabilities to treat diabetes, represented by phenolic compounds due to their antioxidant properties, the elimination of reactive oxygen products and nitrogen species that are harmful to cells, and the formation of glutathione in cells.

Grape seed extracts are powerful antioxidants that contribute to the treatment of many diseases such as diabetes, but the main drawbacks of dietary polyphenols include their low solubility and high chemical stability, which leads to low bioavailability and disintegration before reaching the circulatory system.

Therefore, many pharmaceutical attempts have been made to enhance compliance and therapeutic efficacy and the application of nanotechnology has been proven to be the best approach to improve compliance and clinical efficacy by improving biopharmaceutical properties, pharmacokinetics and target specificity.

Polymeric nanopreservation is a well-established method for preserving extracts, prolonging their shelf life, improving the chemical stability and bioavailability of polyphenols, in addition to eliminating the undesirable astringent taste of these polyphenols.

These polyphenols can be obtained by taking advantage of the waste from the grape juice industry and using them to lower blood sugar and treat diabetes, thereby relying on natural resources and dispensing with synthetic chemical compounds.

So that it is possible to develop an effective drug to treat diabetes that is given orally to increase patient acceptance and reduce pain resulting from injections compared to insulin that is given by injection.
